:Thank you so much for fixing my mistake. It was actually an accident. When I had finally figured out how to add my reply and saved it (by replying to my previous post and editing it to include my new reply)I saw something odd once it was saved. When I refreshed the Staff lounge again to see if it worked I saw something very diffirent. It looked like I had pasted the post into the post of another. The title Help with formatting had table of contents.

:For some mysterious reason the content of the post was within the Image redirects post tacked onto the end. I honestly thought I had accidentally copyed and pasted the new version in the wrong area so I swooped in and took it out thinking the post I had uploaded was pushed onto a diffirent page or something. Once I had discovered the post was nowhere to be seen I was completely puzzled and unsure how to proceed.

:::They can be called whatever you want. They are officially called headings, but sections is the more commonly used term. A post is one individual's reply to something. Also, sysops are pretty good at undoing things (we have a rollback feature that reverts every edit by one user on a page), so don't worry about messing things up too badly. It might help if you use "Show Preview" (Note: Show Preview only shows the preview of the section you are editing-if you want it to show the entire page, you have to click on the edit tab on the top). Also, the [[StrategyWiki:Sandbox|sandbox]] is a good place to experiment (don't worry about messing up in the sandbox, that's what it is there for). Nice work with the [[Digimon World 2]] guide so far.  A few recommendations (don't have to follow all of them):
# Please add any pages you create for the guide to the [[Digimon World 2/Table of Contents]] (well, you have to follow this one)
# Rather than repeating the information about the items, just have a list of what items are available, with links to a /Items page (refer to [[MapleStory/Monsters/Complete list|this page]] for some linking hints.
# Rather than naming them Mission 1, Mission 2, etc. name them after whatever the level is actually called (ignore this if they're actually just numbered...)
# Finally, check out the {{t|Footer Nav}}s.  They help tell the user where to go next.

:I couldn't help but see that you were wondering about how to make a new subpage for a particular game.  The best thing to do is first, go to the Table of Contents of the game (found in the All Game Nav), and under the walkthrough, add a few dead links.  Take, for example, Digimon World 2.  If you want to make a new page for the walkthrough for a place called Marhsmallow land, what you do is type in:
<noinclude>[[Digimon World 2/Marshmallow Land|Marshmallow Land]]</noinclude>
into the ToC, then press 'Save Page'.  What should appear is:
[[Digimon World 2/Marshmallow Land|Marshmallow Land]]
When you're ready to edit, just click upon the red link, start typing whatever it is you want into it, press save, and voila!  New page!
A good example of how a ToC should look (as in, aesthetically pleasing, uses correct naming conventions, et al), is the [[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Table of Contents|Ocarina of Time ToC]].  If you want to see the wiki syntax used, just press 'edit' and see for yourself!  Also check at [[Strategywiki: Guide]], the stuff in there is really useful.

:Hey, sorry about the late reply (I just woke up :P).  I think you've already figured out the subpaging thing, but I'll go over it anywayz.  To start off, visit the Table of Contents for the game you want to add subpages to (there should be a link on the main page).  If it doesn't exist, there's a preload button at the top for ToC pages.  Just copy the format they use to add links to make your won.  Save the page and then click on your newly created red-link (or purple...).  There is a gain a preload button for the guide pages which will add a Header and Footer Nav to the page.  If the page is just a appendix or something, you can remove the footer nav (or keep it, up to you). The easiest way to do this is one of two ways:
#. You can create a link in an existing page that leads to the one you want to create. It should look something like this: [[MapleStory/Towns]]. The game's name, followed by the subpage's name. It will appear in red (just like on Wikipedia), and if you click on it it'll take you to a page where you can create it. You can check out an example of the red link method here: [[Sonic CD/Table of Contents]]
#. Type it directly into your address bar. This is also pretty easy, just go to the main page of the article, like [[MapleStory]]. at the end of the URL, do a / and type the subpage on the end. the link will be like this:

http://strategywiki.org/wiki/MapleStory

then, add on to the end the name of the subpage (in this case, /Towns):

http://strategywiki.org/wiki/MapleStory/Towns

:That sounds great. Could you also use that to find selling prices for all of the items? That is a random fact that players could find useful(hmmm, is that mission really worth it?). I'm planning on going through some dungeons a couple of times and recording the variables I encounter(pokemon, weather, items). I theorise that every level of each dungeon has a specific set of pokemon available for reqruiting. Hopefully me recording some basic data and what can be expected for each dungeon will be ok for starters. Its important to understand each dungeon for random missions.

:Next month I will be getting a copy of the advance version so I will really focus on a proper walkthrough while I play through again. I'm too fond of my current save file to re-start. I'll butt-in and answer [[User talk:Prod#subpaging details|your questions]]: I don't see any need to add a source for the information in infoboxes, since we're not heavily into referencing, but you can if you want to (just put it in the edit summary). I would definitely not bother if it's been hoiked straight from Wikipedia. As far as {{t|col}} and {{t|h2}} are concerned, I believe we decided we were going to have a "lazy" conversion, so we're only changing ToCs over when we edit them for other reasons (to correct a link, or subpage stuff, or whatever). == Contributor lists ==

Adding it on the talk pages isn't really encouraged, but if there are too many contributors it's really the only way.  Main reason being that the history page is a bit more "attached" to the article than the talk page.  Some tips for getting all the users into the edit summaries:
* If they're already in the summary of the destination page, no need to mention them again.
* Don't add links to the deleted pages, they serve no purpose.
* If necessary, merge the pages in over multiple edits, mentioning a few of the users at a time.

The problem with splitting "places" is that it would work better to split them into categories - towns, dungeons, etc.  In this case, it's best to refer to http://www.runescape.com/ and check out the "World Map" link on the left nav.  Luckily you don't have to really know the game to understand what some of the stuff is, like things with "Village" in the name is a small village... and the text for towns is also larger - see Falador and Varrock.  Also, remember that the free version has boundaries, and contains like less than 50% of the world.  Watch subpages is so useful - if you use it every month or so on a guide you can find out if people have added pages you didn't know about, or hidden pages that aren't shown on the ToC. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 15:15, 26 April 2008 (CDT)

Hey Zai, first of all, I'd like to comment on your work on RuneScape - 2 thumbs up!  I'm glad someone got around to it, so thanks a ton (even if it isn't done, it looks a lot better so far)!

So on to the issue at hand - I was wondering if you could spare 5 minutes and convert a table or two once in a while for me.  If so, I really appreciate it, if not, well... I understand xD.  Anyways if you are interested, here's the jist of it: I'm slowly merging the content of [[Mythos/Crafting materials]] into [[Mythos/Crafting material drops]] (which will then be moved back to /Crafting materials since it has a better name).  Basically, the drops page was our test at creating a different layout, and it looks a lot better with the changes.  However, we don't want to pages so I'm merging all the content together.  If you look at the drops page you'll notice the first two sections, Anima and Aether, as having a different table layout then the rest of the page (most recently updated).  These two tables have many more columns which support all the necessary entries for the crafting materials.

Last thing, you don't need to help merge the data, but just help me wikify and expand the current tables so we can fill in the rest.  This project is tough, and maybe I can figure out a regex tomorrow night to help me automate it, but yeah it's kind of a big issue because this crafting materials stuff is the most popular part of the Mythos guide at the moment. :If you take a look at top ride I've come up with a basic format - list it by number (read in the grid from left to right, starting at the top left corner), provide the description (so people can double check it in the grid or just interpret the challenge themselves), and then provide a way to get it.  I was also thinking of a screenshot of the grid so we could point out a few things (for example on my top ride I've never used any of the "free" blocks, and yet I have completed all but just 4 or 5; if I were to screenshot it we could show what a free block looks like and where it appears, etc.). Hi Zai :)  The best advice that I can give to you would be to check out one of the character pages and see how we use the fighting moves templates.  Check out, for example, [[Super_Street_Fighter_II_Turbo/Ken]] and edit it to see much easier it is to use the templates then to try and recreate the tables by hand.  I realize that these don't have places for descriptions, and there's a much more complicated template that does, (see [[Street_Fighter_IV/Ken]]), but you could offload the descriptions to the character text above. Until we can visualize how much data differs from the regular guide, large scale implementation should not be done (i.e. ToC mergers, or using control selector for content instead of controls, etc.).
