The Mario RPG series is an unofficial branch of Mario games that have spawned various RPG games featuring Mario characters and the Mario universe. The first of these was Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, developed in collaboration with Squaresoft for the SNES. Later, the aesthetically unusual Paper Mario series was made, developed by Intelligent Systems. Simultaneously AlphaDream has made the by the Mario and Luigi games for the Game Boy Advance and DS, focusing on the dynamics between the two brothers.
