Lobart's Farm is the first place you'll come to after the bandit cave and before the city of Khorinis.

Opportunities[edit]

Loot[edit]

Head on into the barn. Between the beds directly across from the entrance is a Purse; use it to find 25 Gold. There is another purse to your left in between the hay. Now go into the house. Wait for Hilda to leave the room and then investigate the chest. Take everything but the Work Clothes. It's better to do the Lobart's Work Clothes quests to gain some equipment and experience, and then buy or steal the clothes when you've finished there.

Merchant[edit]

There is a merchant, Canthar, outside the main gate of the farm. He can sell you a variety of items, and can also give you a pass into the city (see A Pan for Hilda for more). Once you have got inside the city he will move to a bench in the merchants' district.

Quests[edit]

If you tell Maleth about how you were attacked he'll task you with defeating the bandits. If you talk to Lobart you can work towards buying some work clothes.

Lobart's Work Clothes[edit]

Talk to Lobart. He will ask whose side you are on; if you tell him you are for the peasants he'll reduce the price of his Farmer's Clothes by 10 gold. The normal asking price for the clothes is 70 gold (80 in Night of the Raven). If you do some menial tasks for him you can lower the asking price to a mere 40 gold. Note that you can get the Clothes for free by robbing his house; you can always choose to do the quests to earn some experience and then make a run for it with the clothes and anything else you can find. Leaving right after getting the cash to buy A Pan for Hilda and before you Bring the turnips to Hilda would be the ideal time to make off with the maximum amount. If Lothar sees you after you took the Clothes he will know you have taken them (even if you aren't wearing them). If you refuse to give them back, or dropped them somewhere, he'll attack you. You can always outrun him if necessary, but it's best to just not be seen by him. If you do choose to give the Clothes back he won't bear a grudge.

Every task you do for Lobart or others on the farm lowers the asking price by 10 gold. If you mention that you were attacked you can then help clear out The Bandits at Lobart's Farm. The first farming task he gives you is to Harvest the Turnip Field, once you have done this the last two tasks open up. Talk to the named farmers to get them.

Once you have lowered the price sufficiently it's time to buy the Clothes. He tells you to collect them from the chest in his house. Of course you could just skip this step and steal them to save paying even 40 gold.

The Bandits at Lobart's Farm[edit]

This only applies to Gothic II: Night of the Raven
Cavalorn's Bandits
These bandits are the same ones you can take on in "Cavalorn's Bandits", so get his help if you haven't already. You will find Cavalorn on the path near the bandits' cave.

Talk to Maleth (you'll find him in the field near the shrine), then go kill the bandits in the cave you passed on your way there. If you befriended the lookout (by admitting you came from the Colony) you only need to kill the other two. If you get into trouble you can always run away; if you get far enough away from them they'll give up the hunt, giving you time to heal up before going back. You may want to buy a Spiked Club from Canthar to help you (it's the same weapon you'll get by killing the bandit leader); its 18 damage is far better than your Heavy Branch's 10, although it does cost 120 gold.

Once they are dead (again, excluding the lookout if you befriended him), talk to Lobart for your reward.

Harvest the Turnip Field[edit]

This is an easy one. Ask Lobart about work and then go into the field nearby and pull the Turnips. You don't have to pull them all (there are 25), just most of them. Lobart gives you 50 EXP. If you gathered all the Turnips he will offer you 5 gold. Don't bother getting it, instead ask him to lower the price of his Work Clothes by 10 gold. Next you're to Bring the turnips to Hilda.

Bring the turnips to Hilda[edit]

Go inside the house and give the Turnips to Hilda. She gives you 25 EXP. Now ask her for something to eat and she'll give you some Stew. She will give you a bowl of stew a day for as long as you're a friend of the farm, so come back here any time you need food.

A Pan for Hilda[edit]

Talk to Hilda and offer to buy the Frying Pan for her. You can ask for the money (20 gold) now, or when you return. Head out of the farm by the path and go along the road until you see a merchant, Canther, sitting by the roadside.

Canthar sees your clothes and offers to give you a document that will let you get into the town regardless of your attire (if you tried going there wearing your current rags, 100 gold was the only thing that would convince them to let you in). Take it if you want; in exchange you'll need to do Canthar's Favor once you get inside Khorinis. It is yet another way of getting inside the city.

If you talk with Canthar with farmer clothes on, he takes you as a farmer and asks you about work. Tell him that you can't complain, and he won't realise that you are a former convict! So you won't need to pay 500 gold coins later, you won't need to cheat Sarah, and you won't need to talk to him in city again!

Canthar sells a Spiked Club for 120 gold. If you want it, sell whatever you don't need (Dark Mushrooms, Heavy Sticks, etc.) and buy it. It's a decent enough weapon, especially if you're going to take on The Bandits at Lobart's Farm. If you kill the bandits you get some Wine, but otherwise you'll need to buy some from Canthar if you want to complete For a bottle of wine.

Head on back to Hilda and collect your 50 EXP. The price of the Work Clothes will drop by 10 gold.

For a bottle of wine[edit]

Look for Vino in the fields and ask him if he needs any help. He says if you get him some Wine he'll tell Lobart you helped him.

You can get Wine by completing The Bandits at Lobart's Farm or by buying it from Canthar the merchant (head out of the farm by the main gate and you'll find him nearby). Either way, return to Vino with the Wine and the price of the Work Clothes will drop by 10 gold.
