Note: this stage is named Little House in the Japanese version.

Objective[edit]

The first stage is the Fun House. Your objective is to collect the key which gives you access to the right side of the house so that you can fight the boss and collect the key which leads to the exit of the Fun House right next to where you started. Along the way, you'll need to collect the projectile weapon for Mickey so that he can attack enemies, and you should seek out the second projectile so that Minnie can fire as well.

Details[edit]

  • A: Since you start the game defenseless, it's very fortunate that the first treasure chest that you can reach will contain a weapon. In the Japanese version it's an orb, but in the American version it's a star. Once you collect it, Mickey can fire two projectiles off at a time.
  • B: If you look closely at the cupboard here, you will notice something behind it. Shoot at it several times until it opens to reveal an extra life. (Sometimes a hidden item may be found in the same location, so keep shooting until both appear.)
  • C: Just beyond the room with the extra life is the second treasure chest which contains a key to the door in the room right above you. You will notice a large enemy blocking the way. Head over there, but approach with caution.
  • D: The enemy blocking the door is not particularly strong, but neither are you at this point, so this can be a little challenging. You'll have to get past the projectiles that it throws in order to hit it, but don't stand too close or you'll take even more damage. Try to find an invincibility fairy if you can before entering the room, and just crash into it.
  • E: Before you head to the bottom of the house, take a detour back to the left to find this treasure chest. There is a small chance that it will contain an enemy. If it does, simply destroy it if you want, leave the room, and come back and open the chest again. It will contain the second projectile that will enable Minnie to fire as well.
  • F: You've made it to the boss of the level. Behind the Witch (or the Cheshire Cat) if the key that opens the door to the exit. There are two strategies that you can use to defeat the boss. The first is with brute force, getting Mickey and Minnie to climb up there and shower the boss with projectiles until one of you is defeated. The slower but safer strategy is to send Minnie up there to fight on her own (this strategy will be employed a lot on the fourth level). Read below to read how this is done. Either way, once you collect the key, you must return all the way to the start room and open the door to reach the exit.

Send Minnie to fight[edit]

To get Minnie to climb the ladder by herself, jump past the ladder so that you pass it at the height of your jump. Push up when you are past the ladder and Minnie is still in front of it. She should grab the ladder and start to climb up. She will try to drop back down to be with Mickey, so slowly push Mickey back under the ladder, then have Minnie climb the rest of the way. If she falls back down in the process, just try again. Even if Mickey climbs up behind her, all that matters is that she reach the top first. Once she's up, you can send Minnie right up to the boss and let her fire away. Since she can't get hurt, it's an easy victory.
