Controls[edit]

  • Neutral dpad: Use the direction pad to instruct Mickey to run left or right, or to instruct Mickey and Minnie to climb up or down a ladder. Minnie will move left or right on her own accord to stand close to Mickey, although pressing up or down will cause Minnie to approach the same location that Mickey is standing on.
  • A button: Press the A button to cause Mickey and Minnie to jump. Minnie jumps a fraction of a second after Mickey does.
  • B button: Press the B button to make Mickey throw a projectile. Mickey can throw up to two projectiles on the screen at a time. Once you collect the second projectile treasure, Minnie can throw a projectile as well, but she can only throw one at a time.
  • Start button: Press the Start button to begin a new game, or to pause the action mid-game.
  • Select button: Not used.

Characters[edit]

Mickey Mouse[edit]

You are in direct control of Mickey Mouse. At the start of the game, he can jump, but he cannot attack enemies by throwing projectiles. In order to give him that ability, you must find the first projectile treasure chest in the first stage. Once found, Mickey can throw up to two projectiles on the screen at one time. Mickey has a health meter that increases as he progresses from one stage to the next. If Mickey is struck by an enemy, or one of the enemies' projectiles, Mickey's health meter will decrease. If Mickey's health meter is entirely eliminated, or if he falls in water or down a pit, he will lose one life. When all of Mickey's lives are lost, the game is over. Mickey can regain health by collecting items.

Minnie Mouse[edit]

Minnie Mouse happily follows along behind Mickey on his quest. She jumps when he jumps, and if you have found the second projectile chest, she can throw one projectile on the screen at a time. While Mickey has a health meter, Minnie is immune to all forms of attack, even from bosses. However, if she falls in the water or in a pit, Mickey loses his life as well. On the first and final stages, it is possible to discover a creature that will fly over and whisk Minnie away. If Minnie is kidnapped, Mickey must then find another secret item location to reveal a key, and enter a room where he must touch one of four golden Minnie statues in hopes of choosing the right one and rescuing her. Note: If you leave the current screen that Minnie is being kidnapped from before Minnie entirely disappears, she will not be kidnapped after all.

Items[edit]

When Capcom localized the game for the American audience, they changed the appearance of many of the items. Refer to the chart below to see how the item originally appears in the Japanese version.

Item (US) Name Description Japanese
appearance
Mickey Mousecapade Shortcake.png Health up Collect this item to gain back two bars of health to your health meter. Typically found by shooting lamps on the walls. Only provides one meter in the Japanese version. Mickey Mousecapade Diamond Blue.png
Mickey Mousecapade Diamond Blue.png Enemy crash When you find and touch one of these items, all enemies that are visible of the screen are instantly removed. In Japan, this item is represented by Hudson Soft's bee mascot. Mickey Mousecapade Hudson Bee.png
Mickey Mousecapade Diamond Red.png Health refill If you grab one of these items, your health meter will be restored to full capacity. You will commonly find this item by shooting at invisible item locations throughout the game, but some enemies will provide it when defeated. In Japan, this item is represented by the face of Donald Duck. Mickey Mousecapade Donald Duck.png
Mickey Mousecapade Tinkerbell.png Invincibility Once you find this item, a fairy will hover over you granting you temporary invincibility. You can run into enemies (even bosses if timed correctly) to destroy them and you won't get hurt until the fairy departs and leaves the screen. You can only find this by shooting at invisible item locations. The US version uses Tinkerbell to represent the fairy, but the Japanese version features a fairy which is similar to the one that grants Master Higgins invincibility in Adventure Island. Mickey Mousecapade Owl Pink.png Minnie kidnap If you discover this unfortunate item, a bird will fly over and kidnap Minnie Mouse from your team. Once she is gone, the only way to get her back is to find one of the red keys from a secret item location, and enter the bonus room in an attempt to discover which statue Minnie is hidden in. Note: If you manage to leave the screen before Minnie disappears, you will not lose Minnie. Try to run away before the bird gets away with her. Mickey Mousecapade Crow Pink.png
Mickey Mousecapade Key Gold.png Gold Key These keys are necessary to make progress in the first and last levels. They are hidden in treasure chests and are required to complete the two indoor levels. Mickey Mousecapade Key Gold.png
Mickey Mousecapade Key Red.png Red Key If you find the Red Key, you will be transported to a bonus room. If Minnie has not been kidnapped, you will see four fairies. One fairy will trigger an item to appear. Touch as many as you can before the item appears. If you touch all four, you will win an extra life. Otherwise a Health up will appear. If you lost Minnie, every hidden item will be a red key, giving you a chance to rescue her. Mickey Mousecapade Key Red.png
Mickey Mousecapade 1up.png 1-up These extra lives are only found in a few locations throughout the game. Finding them will increase your life count by one. Mickey Mousecapade 1up.png
