Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Louie55! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. Please remember to sign your name on, and only on, talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- The preceding signed comment was added by Rocky (talkcontribs). 18:02, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Moving pages[edit]

Hey, whenever you want change the name of an existing page, like Mask sidequestsMasks, use the "Move" button at the top of the page instead of copy/pasting the content into a new page. That way we can preserve the edit history. Thanks, - najzere 17:34, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Deleting pages[edit]

When you want a page deleted, please add {{delete}} to the top of the page. You can add a reason by typing {{delete|reason}} replacing "reason" with a sentence explaining why. Thanks!--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 17:57, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

One more thing, please be sure to sign your name when you edit a discussion page. You can do this easily by adding "~~~~" at the end of your edit. Thanks!--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 19:43, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Subpages[edit]

There's no need to put [[Category:Sub-pages]] on guide pages, as it is inserted automatically. - najzere 00:37, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that's what I thought too, however, on that particular page, it did not turn out that way. Someone created the page earlier today and the page was showing up on the Uncategorized pages page. I had to add the [[Category:Sub-pages]] to get it off of the list. Now I see that two more pages are showing up on the list. I'm not sure why it's happening though?? Is there something I'm missing?? --louie55 01:14, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
It's because it didn't have a {{Header Nav}} template. - najzere 01:26, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Changing guides[edit]

I see you're taking cleanup seriously, which is good, but let's not make it any harder on editors while we do it. Fashion Dogz is just barely starting, so it may be premature to come in and start moving things around, especially since you're not actually adding any content. We don't want to discourage a user from contributing by switching her layout around before she's had a chance to put anything in. As for the Controls page, there's a reason why it comes preloaded with the "Table of Contents" button; most games these days are more than two buttons and a Dpad. Controls in the Getting Started is fine if they're not too complex, but once again, as you're not adding the content yourself, it's probably better to let the writer of the guide decide which is more appropriate.

On more of a general editing note, use the {{sect-stub}} template to show that content is needed under a heading, and don't use headings that mirror the name of the page (i.e. ==Getting Started== on the Getting Started page) as per this policy. Thanks for all your hard work! - najzere 01:23, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Another note: we don't need to link every single iteration of a word on a page. In most cases just the first time it's used is fine. Some exceptions are when it's text under a different heading that a reader might use the ToC to get to, thereby bypassing the first hypertext, or a standardized list where everything is linked and it would look odd to leave one out. - najzere 01:58, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Hey Najzere, it looks like some of my edits and your edits have been going back and forth lately. Sorry about this. I guess it's just because different people have different ideas about things. It's also because I'm not as knowledgeable about StrategyWiki yet as you are. For instance, I was not aware that the Controls page link was automatically created when creating a TOC since I have never created a new main guide page. If I had known this, I would not have freaked out as much as I did. I just have a pet peeve when it comes to standards and organization.
In response to your comment, I see exactly what your saying about moving things around so soon in a guide's lifetime. I guess I never thought of it as being "their" guide. I was looking at is as being the community's guide since this is a wiki.
From now on, if a guide is brand new with hardly any content, I will let it take shape more before editing it (if it needs it). Unless it is an obvious edit. I see now how changing a guide so soon can offend the author (I know it would offend me).
Thanks for filling me in on the Section-Stub tag. It didn't feel right putting what I did in that section, but I couldn't think of anything else to put there. I didn't know there was already a tag in place for that.
As for adding a "Getting Started" heading on the Getting Started page. I agree that was dumb. In fact, I didn't even remember doing it until I just went and looked at the history for that page and saw that I did indeed do just that. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I just wasn't thinking clearly at the moment.
Thanks for the info on adding links to pages. I will follow those guidelines from now on.--louie55 02:03, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
I personally think that putting the controls on the getting started page is quite a good idea! I mean, for some of these pet games where the only control seems to be the touch screen. I'm almost surprised I didn't think of that before! --Melon247 10:10, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

MM maps[edit]

Wow, that Clock Town map is awesome! Great job on that, it's really amazing. - najzere 18:20, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! It took me a while to draw and get all the textures gathered up. I hope to draw more maps in the future.--louie55 18:35, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
