Edit summaries[edit]

Could you perhaps provide a more elegant description of your edit summaries than simply "incorrect information"? The fact that your editing the page implies that the information was incorrect. What your changing is of far more interest than the reason why you're changing it. Thank you. Procyon 17:13, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

minor edits[edit]

Could you perhaps explain the rationale behind why you think saying "slimes ×3" is better, or easier to understand than "three slimes"? The last three edits that you've made don't really seem to contribute anything to the guides, they're just stylistic preferences that really aren't merited. Procyon 20:36, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi again. Thanks for leaving the message on my talk page. I patrol the edits pretty regularly, so you can feel free to respond on your own talk page, I'll likely see that you replied. And no offense was taken at all, on the contrary, I'm very happy to see someone working on the guide. My theory is, even when I am 100% done with a guide, I imagine it's still only 90% complete. I like to do most of the upfront work so that people can come along and fix the info and make it perfect rather than making them worry about how to set the guide up. So your contributions are appreciated. My concern was as follows: For a while, there was one anonymous user who I frequently had to roll back various minor edits. Now, for all I know, that might have actually been you. And I always wanted the opportunity to ask that person "Why did you do this?" Not in a bad accusatory way, but just in a, "what was your thinking behind this decision?" because I genuinely wanted to know. If that user was you, I'm glad I finally have a chance t converse with you. If it wasn't you, then I'm still glad you joined the site. Let me know if there's any help I can provide. Procyon 01:23, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

I am unsure because I did not know if an edit was automatically signed or not. I never left a signature that I was aware of so it might have been me. If you could provide me with an example of a change I could see if that was me or not. 21:31, 1 June 2010 (EST)

If you take a look at, say, the history of The Tower of Druaga/Floor 1-10 (click the History tab at the top next to the Edit tab) and look at some of the changes from June and July of 2008, you will see a lot of changes from one user from a specific IP range. Of course, if you never edited SW before now, it couldn't have been you :) It doesn't even matter if it was or wasn't you, I was simply curious. Procyon 01:38, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Nah that couldn't have been me because I just picked this game up again several months ago when I downloaded it on the Wii virtual console then remembered my Namco Museum Vol. 3. I made this account just for this game (as you could probably tell by my username). I never could beat it back when that came out because A) I didn't have a guide B) I was younger around 14. So now that I'm 23 and dug the game back out I finally conquered the main game but I've been working on doing the Another Tower on Vol 3 then plan to move to The Darkness Tower. Still trying to figure out how to get the Gate Book on 28 because it doesn't seem to be getting ropers to cross the door. But very nice job on the guide. As for the other changes I made the version of the game on the Nintendo DS actually comes with a built in guide so that helped me update some information such as the Sapphire Mace not actually being needed for anything. Unfortunately, the PS Another Tower and The Darkness Tower are not available on the DS version so I am unable to obtain concrete information straight from the creators for those. 21:48, 1 June 2010 (EST)

Yeah, the PlayStation Towers are fiendishly hard. But I certainly appreciate all the corrections you've made. Have you had a chance to try out The_Tower_of_Druaga_(PCE)? I personally translated the ROM for that from Japanese to English. It's the only translation I've ever done. I think you'd like it. Procyon 01:59, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah actually. Though I never played it straight through from start to finish because the emulator my friend had provided me with would automatically exit when I got to around floor 34. I was playing it first because it was much easier but I do prefer the challenge of the original game. I was trying to figure things out on my own but when it got to such commands like d-pad codes or even the one where you must eject the CD/pop the lid... I never would even think that it would've been something like that(What were they thinking with that one? Doesn't seem like it'd be a good idea to eject the CD mid-game but oh well). I'll let you know what I find out. The Darkness Tower Hyper Gauntlet Command was wrong too (Which is why I went back to Another Tower). I'll have to try to figure that one out also. Most of the darkness tower commands seem like variations of the original game so it might have something to do with killing 1-5 of the gray wizards and doing something or doing something then killing 1-5 or maybe 3-5. 22:06, 1 June 2010 (EST)

Wow, I totally didn't realize until I went into records to check something that there was a continue function... I knew other versions had it... all this time I've been trying to climb back up when I could just keep continuing from 28... dang... 00:53, 9 June 2010 (EST)

Oh no >_< lol, glad you found it. I imagine that a) you'll get to through the higher levels more easily and b) you've become REALLY good at the lower levels. Procyon 13:57, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I can beat the original on one life almost, but these harder levels gotta practice, now I'm stuck on 38 trying to even kill those two dragons, I did once, but somehow the green one must have been under one, so I ended up killing all 3. --PrinceGilgamesh 01:46, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Video capture[edit]

Hey, great videos on the Tower of Druaga! I was noticing your problems with the angle of the video and some brightness issues. You can get an S-Video to USB capture for relatively cheap (~$40). I'm not sure what kind of television you have, but most have an S-Video out. Just thought you might like to know, in case you were planning on doing a lot more recording. This is the one I have, and it seems to work okay. It lets me capture PS2 and Wii video, though nothing on the PS3. Cheers, — najzereT 08:41, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Hey, thanks, and thanks for the tip. I figured out how to turn the brightness adjust off of auto and fix the angle I think. Gonna try it out on the "Another Tower" set of levels. I'll definitely check it out though. I do find making videos of games enjoyable. But for this game I am using PS3 so that the output is HDMI. Unfortunately this TV doesn't have composite jacks. My TV is a Samsung 23 inch HD.--PrinceGilgamesh 22:22, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, my HD TV has S-Video, composite and component outs, but I can't get it to work with my PS3 no matter what I try, even setting output in the PS3 settings to S-Video. I'm still trying to figure out what I need to record it, hopefully HDMI to HDMI. — najzereT 22:30, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I just bought a DVD recorder. It only has composite input (which is all they have on the market) but converts up to HDMI. I made a video of the original game to test it out before I move onto "Another Tower". I think it came out really great. I kind of want to redo my "Darkness Tower" video because of it. Even if I die, just so the quality is better since I already have proven I can do it on a single life. The video on the original game can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IHRv6MY8l4. Tell me what you think of this one. --PrinceGilgamesh 08:47, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
