Sub-paging[edit]

When creating new pages for guides, could you please make sure they're in a sub-page of the guide itself (e.g. "Equipment" is a sub-page of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)? One thing important to doing this is making sure that any links you create to non-existant pages point to their proper sub-paged location. --DrBob (Talk) 04:41, 12 November 2006 (CST)

For the The Da Vinci Code/Organizations page, if it isn't going to be very long, you might want to put all of it on the same page (like you did with the The Da Vinci Code/Characters page). -- Prod (Talk) 11:08, 12 November 2006 (CST)
When adding new pages, first go to the table of contents page and add a link from there. Make sure that it is a subpage of the main guide (such as Enter the Matrix/Weapons) rather than in the main name space (such as Weapons). Then click on the link you made and edit from there. I'm really glad you are adding so much information, but if noone can find it, it can't help anyone. If you don't understand something please ask. -- Prod (Talk) 15:38, 18 November 2006 (CST)

When attempting to add new pages, add them on the table of contents page first. -- Prod (Talk) 22:10, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

The table of contents link is at the top of every page. Here's a direct link True Crime: Streets of LA/Table of Contents. -- Prod (Talk) 22:21, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Formatting[edit]

Hi. Thanks for adding lots of info to the guides around here. I noticed you copied info from wikipedia for the Neversoft Entertainment page. Rather than copying the page text, it's better to click edit there, and copy the wikicode and pasting that. It comes out looking a lot better and easier to clean up. Additionally, for other pages (such as The Movies) please try to match your formatting to the other pages (such as the main The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time guide). For example, lots of stuff in the infobox should be linked to the pages, and the info should be moved to a subpage. I'm going to try and clean this stuff up, but I haven't played the game so I may make mistakes. If you need help with something, leave a message on my talk page, or look at the wikicode for some of the other pages for examples. Happy editing! -- Prod (Talk) 22:42, 12 November 2006 (CST)

Please make sure you also classify pages under their proper titles and headings (such as The Movies/Movie Types) in order to better organize that guide and the wiki. Thanks! --Antaios 21:08, 16 November 2006 (CST)
I noticed, you're getting rid of all the red links on the page. If it's a link to a page that will never exist, get rid of the link. However, if it's a link to a game, leave it, even though it's red. Someone will eventually make the page, or someone who sees the redlink might make the page, and the links will already be there. Sorry if I seem harsh, but I'm just trying to help focus efforts so we don't undo each others edits. -- Prod (Talk) 15:46, 18 November 2006 (CST)

Table of Contents[edit]

The to add links to the table of contents, visit the page The Great Escape (2003)/Table of Contents. That toc is shared between all pages in the guide so it is easier to keep up to date. -- Prod (Talk) 13:14, 7 January 2007 (CST)

I cleaned up the ToC for you and moved the levels page to The Great Escape (2003)/Walkthrough. Please try to keep information within subpages of the main guide. If you need any help with anything, leave a message on my talk page. -- Prod (Talk) 13:26, 7 January 2007 (CST)

Image[edit]

I just deleted the image you uploaded, because it was in an unknown format, and couldn't be used. Please upload images in standard formats (such as PNG), so that the software can deal with them. --DrBob (Talk) 14:12, 7 January 2007 (CST)

To upload images, please use Special:Upload. -- Prod (Talk) 17:46, 20 March 2007 (CDT)
Just look through the history on each page to see what changes I (or another editor) make, to see how the page is fixed. To make it easier to see when things are changed, use your watchlist. When you edit a page, there is a check box at the bottom that says "Watch this page". Make sure it's checked when you save. If you miss that, there's also a "Watch" button in the toolbox on the right. That way it is easy for you to see when a page has been changed (check your watchlist, top right corner of the screen). -- Prod (Talk) 18:20, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Thanks!

Copyright violations[edit]

Please do not copy content from other sites on the internet unless they have been released under the GFDL, or into the public domain. The Great Escape guide you are putting together seems to be from [1]. Unless you can prove you wrote it, these pages are going to be deleted. -- Prod (Talk) 19:04, 7 January 2007 (CST)

Make a little more effort.[edit]

Hi Ryguy. You've been here for a while, and some of the decisions you've made about your recent contributions are a little distressing. You image names and page name choices are rather careless, and you're relying a bit too much on people coming along behind you and fixing everything back up. Please try to be conscious of what you're doing whenever you make additions to site. Name images properly so people can tell what they are without looking at them, and make sure that the new pages you are creating are precisely where they belong. If you have any problems, or need answers to any questions, we're always around to help. Thanks. Procyon 21:40, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Category entries[edit]

Ryguy, you don't manually add items to a Category page. They appear automatically when you make a page that is marked with that category. So if you want Shrek 2 or Vigilant 8 to show up on the Luxoflux category page, you have to make a new page for those games, correctly, and mark those pages with [[Category:Luxoflux]]. But the thing is, based on your recent additions, I don't know if you can be trusted to do that properly. If you are going to attempt it, please use the "new game guide" button to populate the page the right way. Procyon 21:18, 21 March 2007 (CDT)

Also, if you continue to contribute poorly (like you have been doing), you will be banned for a short period of time (about 1 day) so you can catch up on the nice help documentation that exists on the site. Here are a few links for them:
I hope that you decide to read the previous links, and start contributing wisely to StrategyWiki. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 21:49, 21 March 2007 (CDT)

Controls[edit]

Hi Ryguy, just to note, for control pages, there are images for all of the movements on the ps2, see {{psx}}, you might want to use those next time.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:52, 22 March 2007 (CDT)

GTA4[edit]

I've fixed the duplicate page you created, and deleted the page you created on production and promotion of GTA4, since it was a copyright violation of various other sources on the internet. We cannot have content to which we do not hold the copyright on StrategyWiki, so please do not copy-and-paste stuff from other sites here in future. Regardless, we don't need such detailed information on the production or promotion of games; we need walkthroughs! --DrBob (talk) 12:52, 27 January 2008 (CST)

And don't worry about getting banned. As long as you try to do things the right way, we are very forgiving :). Happy editing! -- Prod (Talk) 17:15, 9 February 2008 (CST)

Warning[edit]

  1. Learn how to use the new page templates at the top of the edit box when you begin a new page.
  2. Do not create a page like Gameplay. It must be properly placed in a subdirectory of the game that it belongs to.
  3. Do not create placeholder pages ("There will be content here someday...")
  4. Read the StrategyWiki guide!

Thank you. Procyon (Talk) 01:04, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

sorry. i'll try to do better.
