The first building you'll see in Alsedo is an inn. You can rest here for 10 gold. Resting at the inns throughout the world will let you save your game and refill your hearts and magic.
Continue to the right and and press 
between the two angel statues. Head to the right to talk to Queen Eleanora's residence. She will entrust one of her helpers to you, Priscilla. Priscilla will give you a small heart for every five enemies you defeat in an area. Priscilla will disappear once you leave the region and if you want her help again you'll need to visit the queen again.
Head back to the angel statues and press again to return to the village. Collect some money and buy the equipment: Wood Shield, Small Spear and Chain mail. The Small Spear will let you deal more damage but can't be used with a shield so your protection is reduced while wielding it. The shop with a question mark sells Medicine which you can use to heal yourself when needed. Next visit Sonia in the unmarked house to the right of the angel statues. She will tell you that she lost her Ocarina somewhere in the cave (you must talk to her to make the Ocarina appear). Head through the forest to the right of town to find the cave. Return to Sonia with the Ocarina and she will teach you the songs to open the doors in the cave. To open them stand on a platform with the music notes and use the Ocarina. Now play one of these melodies.

Inside the cave you will come across a chest. Open it for an extra Heart. You can find more of these throughout the world, but many of them are hidden (see the Hearts page for their locations). Continue along until you reach the boss door. When you pass the pillar a heart will fall out of it. This can be repeated three times. Enter the door to fight the Myconid.

It takes 8 hits with the Gradius, or 4 with the spear to finish him. He will jump every time he is struck. Firestorm does very little damage.

After you've defeated it you receive some gold and three more Fire Storms. Leave the village through the doorway in the tree to the far left of Queen Eleanora. There are no more monsters in the town itself, but you can still return to the forest and the areas beyond it for mushroom hunting.
