Dante

Styles

Dante has 6 Styles available that give him a variety of attacks which are used with Circle button. Only one Style can be equipped at a time, and you can only switch Styles between missions or at a Divinity Statue.

Trickster

This Style grants Dante some extra maneuverability.

  • Dash: Press Neutral lstick+Circle button when on the ground for a quick dash. This can be used to evade enemy attacks.
  • Wall Hike: Press Circle button when running towards a wall to run straight up the wall and backflip off it. Or you can run along the wall and then leap off it.
  • Sky Star: Press Circle button in midair for an air dash.
  • Air Trick: Press R1 button+ forward on Neutral lstick+Circle button to teleport towards a targeted enemy.

Gunslinger

This Style grants Dante some extra attacks for use with his ranged weapons.

Swordmaster

This Style grants Dante some extra attacks for use with his Devil Arms.

Royalguard

This Style grants Dante some extra defensive maneuvers.

  • Block and Charge: Press Circle button while on the ground. This reduces damage from enemy attacks, and uses the energy from the blocked attack to charge the Royal Gauge. This can be performed in the air.
  • Just Parry: Press Circle button just as an enemy attacks. This acts like a regular Block, but it grants more energy for the Royal Gauge.
  • Release: Press R1 button+ forward on Neutral lstick+Circle button. Releases the energy stored in the Royal Gauge for an explosive attack. This can be performed in the air.
  • Just Release: Press R1 button+ forward on Neutral lstick+Circle button just as an enemy attacks. Releases the energy stored in the Royal Gauge for a more powerful explosive attack. This can be performed in the air.
  • Ultimate: Press R1 button+ back on Neutral lstick+Circle button to create a shield in front of Dante. It can deflect weak attacks and convert their energy into health.

Quicksilver

  • Time Lag: Press R1 button+Circle button to slow down time, allowing Dante to move extremely fast.

Doppelganger

  • After-Image: Press R1 button+Circle button to create a shadowy double of Dante which mimics his movements. While it's active, a second player can press Start button on the second controller and take control of the shadow double, thus enabling two-player co-op play.

Cerberus

Agni & Rudra

Nevan

Beowulf

Vergil

Note: Vergil is only playable in the Special Edition of the game. His arsenal is much smaller than Dante's, but he starts the game with all his weapons and can carry them all at once. You can use L2 button and R2 button to cycle back and forth through his Devil Arms, since he's only got one ranged weapon.

Yamato

This is a katana with great range, and is his second most powerful weapon.

Beowulf

A suit of armor, which has the shortest range and the most power.

Force Edge

A sword which grants some moves that are very similar to Dante's Rebellion moves. Vergil will dual-wield it with Yamato for some of its attacks.

Summoned Swords

This is Vergil's only ranged weapon.

Dark Slayer

This is Vergil's only Style.
