Amstrad CPC
The Amstrad CPC version appears to be a balanced version.
Gameplay changes:
- The layout of level 8 is changed - you can drop down to collect an egg rather than requirng a precise jump.
- Mother duck seems to perform slightly broader movements, although this could be an illusion based on the smaller levels and slightly-faster movement.
Commodore 64
The Commodore 64 version provided a difficulty setting before launching the game.
Gameplay changes:
- The difficulty setting is set on startup. This controls how quickly the player and ducklings move.
- The jumps feel less precise. In some cases, this makes certain routes much more difficult (e.g. Level 7 bottom-left corner).
- The lives counter is displayed differently - losing a life when one hat is visible causes a game over. There is still the same number of lives.
- The color palette is darker than other platforms.
Sinclair ZX Spectrum
The Sinclair ZX Spectrum version is a simple version compared to the others, with some graphical gitches distinct to the spectrum (e.g. ladders changing color to the character on them). It's still highly rated for a ZX spectrum game, rated number 13 in the Official Top 100 Games of All Time within Your Sinclair.
Gameplay changes from other platforms:
- Both the time and bonus counter reset on death.
- The ducklings reverse directions at a ladder/floor intersections.
- Simplified jump physics. This is helpful in some cases, as with Level 7 where you get an additional route.
