Joystick: Moves Ripley (Player 1) and Hicks (Player 2)

Shoot 1: Makes player shoot while standing up

Shoot 2: Makes player shoot while crouching. If the player is equipped with bombs or super bombs, Shoot 2 can be used to set off the bombs. In the APC stages (this doesn't apply to the Japanese versions as they have no APC stages), Shoot 2 fires the APC's missiles.
