Gunhed is a vertical shooter collaboratively developed by Hudson Soft and Compile which was released for the PC Engine in 1989. The title comes from a movie tie-in with a live-action film of the same name (also released in July of 1989), although there is little apparent overlap in content. Internationally the game was renamed Blazing Lazers and saw its first release for the TurboGrafx-16 that same year. More recently, in 2007 and 2008, it was re-released on the Wii's Virtual Console where it is available for download.
