The Shantae series is a pair of games developed by the WayForward Technologies. The series combines action, adventure, and platforming elements. The games star the namesake Shantae, a half-genie who protects the the fishing port of Scuttle Town. Her nemesis is the pirate Risky Boots. The two games in the series are considered to be some of the best on their platforms, with the original Shantae being the best received Game Boy Color game of 2002 and the sequel, Risky's Revenge, being the highest rated game on DSiWare.
