By this point in the game, you should have collected all the available weapons and have plenty of ammunition, although there is no shortage of ammo to be picked up in this level.  You should also be bringing Armor from the previous level.

The primary objective for the Reactor unit is to infiltrate and destroy the Strogg main reactor.  To do this, you will need to expose the reactor core in the Reactor/, activate the cooling pump in the Facility/, start more pumps in Station 1/ and Station 2/ and then return to The Reactor to destroy the core by shooting it.

This is an easy level, so use your favorite strategy.  For those that like to shoot from cover, there is almost always somewhere you can pull back to so that you can snipe at your foes with little danger of taking much damage in return.  In the one spot where this is not the case, there is room to run around like a lunatic, avoiding fire from the two Strogg who ambush you.  If you prefer to rush your enemies with a powerful weapon, there is no shortage of replacement ammunition and there's also plenty of health and armor to patch yourself up afterwards.  Something to watch out for is taking slight damage from unintentional falls.  You can also take a path through this level that bypasses a lot of the action and forces you to take the exit early.  If you want to explore fully, then don't jump out of any windows.

Berserkers and Iron Maidens
You begin this level, and the Reactor unit, on a ledge above a large courtyard patrolled by a Super Tank.  A bridge leads forward and into the power plant building.  Unless you feel like a bit of manly, one-on-one combat later, dispose of the Super Tank now using Grenades and Rockets while using the ledge for cover.  Keep and eye on the bridge, however, as several Berserkers may come over and join the fight.  If they don't, just go across to meet them.  On the other side of the bridge, a hallway leads to the right and to the left (see Secrets, below).  Go either way, turn and look down some steps into a large room with explosive barrels in the far left-hand corner (again see Secrets, below).  When you start down, explosions on both sides of the room reveal elevators under the floor which bring two Iron Maidens up to fire rockets at you.  After dealing with these enemies, go through the side door that was on your right when you entered.  There are exploding crates and barrels here, so be careful as you kill the Berserker that will come from the passage to your left.  You can't get through the door at the end of that passage until you get the Red Key.  Return to the large room and go back up the steps to the hallway.  Dispose of two more Iron Maidens that have come out of an alcove that opened up at the end.

The Red Key
The Red Key
In the large room, between the two sets of steps and hidden behind a pillar is an elevator.  Take this down and then climb up a ladder into the courtyard.  If you did not deal with the Super Tank earlier, this is where you will have to fight him.  What?  You're using an Invulnerability?  What a wimp!  It turns out that he was guarding the Red Key, so take it and use the ladder and elevator to return to the large room.  Again, go through the side door and this time the door at the end of the passage will open.  On the other side is another open courtyard.  In there are Berserkers and Icarus.  After dealing with them, go out and look around.  You will find a vent that periodically spews a ball of fire. To avoid damage from the fire, wait until a ball has just come up and then crouch and fall into the vent.  Have a suitable weapon ready because in the room below you are going to have to deal with a Berserker and a Gladiator without much cover to hide behind.  When this is done and you have time to look around, you will see an octagonal elevator platform.  Jump on and it will take you up to an elevated area in the courtyard with the fire vent.  There are Icarus in the air now, so either fight them or just run for the exit to The Reactor

If you have enough grenades, toss one into the vent and listen if it hits an enemy. Continue until they don't hit any more. To avoid damage from the fire, wait until a ball has just come up and then crouch and fall into the vent.  Have a suitable weapon ready because in the room below you are going to have to deal with a Berserker and a Gladiator without much cover to hide behind - unless you've already killed one or both.  When this is done and you have time to look around, you will see an octagonal elevator platform.  Jump on and it will take you up to an elevated area in the courtyard with the fire vent.  There are Icarus in the air now, so either fight them or just run for the exit to The Reactor.  However, if you want to score all the enemy kills and/or pick up all the interesting items in this level, make sure that you've completed the exploration, including secret areas, before you leave.

This level has two (2) secrets:
# After crossing the causeway and entering the main reactor building, turn left (south) at the "T" intersection and watch for a flickering white light that emits sparks intermittently, recessed into the ceiling.  Shoot the light to open a secret compartment next to you, containing an Adrenaline vial and First Aid Kits.
# Almost at the start of the level, after you have crossed the bridge to reach the hallway, take the left-hand branch to the end.  Look up and you will see that one of the recessed lights is flickering.  Shoot it to open a secret alcove nearby.  The alcove contains an Adrenaline.
# At the location where you access Secret #1, look west down a short flight of stairs and note the cluster of explosive radioactive containers.  Detonate the containers from a distance to shatter the wall and provide access to a secret area. Follow the passageway to an upper level where you can collect a BFG10K.
# In the large room at the bottom of the steps down from the hallway, shoot the explosive barrels in the far left-hand corner to receive the message "You have found a secret area". A Berserker will emerge from a hole in the wall. In it, an elevator takes you up to more enemies on the walkway overlooking the exit area. From there, you can jump towards the exit, bypassing the drop into the vent, if you want.
