Slender is a free, independently developed survival horror game released in June 2012 as a beta for Windows and Mac OS X. The game is based on the Something Awful forums' creation, Slender Man.

BASIC RULES
-You can only lose by looking at Slender man too long, or if he gets close enough he can turn you around himself.
-You are EASIER for him to catch if you turn your flashlight off.
-His movement becomes more erratic with the flashlight off.
-Your flashlight can run out of batteries. The amount of time you have is long enough for you to keep it on for at least an 8 or 9 minute game.
-Maximum stamina is reduced by sprinting.
-There are ten landmarks, but only eight pages.
MISCONCEPTIONS
-There are claims that the note in the building will only appear in one of the rooms, always appearing in the same room. This has not been corroborated.
-There is a claim that if there is a note in the tunnel, there will not be one on the tanker truck, and vice-versa. This has not been corroborated.
STRATEGIES
Start
You start at what we'll call the bottom of the map, or the 6 o'clock position. Move forward to the the middle of the map, where there is a building and some tanks. You will pass by a silo on the right and a scary tree on your left. Ignore them for now.
Building (bathroom)
Starting here allows you to take your time with the craziest part first. There are four rooms to check, and only one page. Check the rooms that are easiest to exit first, this allows you for quick escape if they are there. The page can be tacked onto the wall, or sitting on a chair in the far corner of one of the rooms. It is easy to get scared and skip checking the chair. Don't skip the chair unless you already have the note. Head out to the tanks when you are done.
Tanks
The tanks are directly outside the bathroom. These are the next scariest obstacles, but Slender man is still slow as molasses at 1 page. The page can either be on the end of the tankers lined up parallel to each other, or on the side of the perpendicular tanks. Head to the dirt path at the 3 o'clock position next.
X-Wall
You want to stick to the dirt paths especially with the latest update, which allows ol' Slendy to appear IN FRONT of you, but behind something like a tree, making every forest a maze of NOPE.Turning around is NOT suggested, and the game can be beaten without ever actually seeing the man. Approach the wall from the right, do a strafing circle around it, collect the page if necessary, and leave, never turning back. Bang a right out of there and the six pillars should be next, on your left.
Pillars
Approach from the outside of the left pillars. You should still be able to see if the page is there on the inside of the pillars while still being able to make a wide enough turn at the end to go around the other set of pillars. If you see the page, grab it and start considering that sprint button. Take a left onto the dirt path and head for the tunnel.
Tunnel
The tunnel page will be tacked to the wall, and can blend in so be wary. At this point, Slender IS either at your entry point of the tunnel or closer. Or at the other end. I know. He is awful. The page can be on the side you enter on OR the far side, but is rarely if ever in the middle. Assuming you are alive, and your pants remain unsoiled, you will definitely need to use a bit of sprint now. Not all of it. Always make sure you have enough to get away should you get spooked. Continue on your path, towards the tanker truck.
Tanker Truck
The page is often on the back of the truck, or pinned to either side, I am not sure if it appears on the grill, but I have not seen it. The page is hopefully quick for you. Continue forth. I suggest tapping your sprint button every 2 seconds, although adjust to your taste and experiences. Next is the pickup truck with a small building.
Pickup/small building
The page is often on the door of the building, on the side you should be approaching. If it is not there, pick a side and check it, no time to turn around and check both sides. If it is not your lucky day, check the truck as you go by as well. Scary tree is next.
Scary Tree
The scary tree is not too bad because it has a small circumference and if there is a page, it will always be tacked to the trunk at eye level. Keep going counterclockwise and you will pass your starting point. On to the silo, which should be on your left.
Silo
This is basically scary tree but suckier because there are more trees around, and the silo is larger, meaning more circumference to search. Not much to say here, except that the page will be tacked once again, at eye level and nowhere else. I suggest when you search to approach around the left side and re-enter the road hopefully with another page, in one non-stop line. Don't get caught up on a corner. Lastly, large rocks.
Large rocks
The large rocks will be on the right of your path. There are three of them, and there is space to run between them, but don't. I have never seen the page there and it is too easy to get caught up. The page is usually on the shortest rock that is very large around, on the side closest to the x-wall.
Other Tips
-If Slender is getting too close behind you, try facing him. NOT TOO LONG. But he will not move when you can see him. Back away while facing him and put a tree between you two before the static gets you. Hopefully he will still be there when you re-emerge and you can put more distance between you two before turning away.
-Again with the new update, Slender can now appear behind objects that are IN FRONT of you. That also means that there will be an object to put between you two while you change your pants and go around.
-The latest update has added fog. The fog gets more intense and thicker as you collect pages.
-Change your desktop to a picture of something nice that calms you down. This helps when you get caught and need something less frightening to look at when the game closes itself for you.
-Keep a map of the world up on a separate computer if you can, it makes for good reference. Maps can be found on imgur, Reddit, and most likely through miscellaneous google searches.
-Most of these maps will make their own claims about the rules of the game. I have already mentioned a few, but take these with a grain of salt.
-Everything I posted under "BASIC RULES" comes either from the readme file of the latest update, or simply from common sense from playing the game.
-When you get to 6-7 pages, Slender is basically just constantly re-appearing behind you. Do not look back, and use your stamina freely. This is why you tried so hard to conserve it earlier, so you could bust it to the last page now.
End Game and Extra Mode Spoilers
DO NOT READ PAST HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU COLLECT ALL THE PAGES
-Collecting the last page INSTANTLY makes Slender disappear. He will re-appear about 8-10 seconds later and get you. This is unavoidable and is supposed to happen. It means you won.
-Daytime mode is exactly what it sounds like. Slender, but in the daytime.
-$20 mode is proof that the developers have humor, however twisted. Instead of scary music and static when Slender is near, a rap song will play with the repeating lyrics, "Gimme 20$" and a line about "wifies in the club" or something. It basically turns into a game about the IRS.
-MH mode, or Marble Hornet mode. This puts a constant static border on the top and bottom of the screen. It also alters the placing of the pages, and removes the sting of music when Slender is spotted or catches you.
