In Sonic Adventure DX, when you have gotten all 130 emblems, you unlock Metal Sonic in Trial Mode. Metal Sonic has different physics but plays exactly like Sonic's stages. You can achieve emblems with Metal Sonic too but it won't trigger anything and doesn't add to the main emblem tally.
