There are 15 levels of steepness for the mountain, and two courses, the downhill and the slalom. There are gates to pass through and obstacles to jump over to get the fastest time.

Skiing was released for the Atari 2600 and the Intellivision in 1980 by Mattel. When the game was originally released, Mattel obtained a license from the U.S. Ski Team and used its name and logo on the game's box. It dropped the U.S. Ski Team moniker after it was sold to Sears for it's private-label version of the Intellivision. All subsequent re-releases have gone by the name Skiing.
