Template:Alicesoftwiki and Sengoku Rance

Hello, Template:Alicesoftwiki has been marked for deletion. These types of templates are reserved for our partners, with whom we have a reciprocal relationship. It is against our external links policy to send users offsite for information which should be hosted here. The same can be said for the entire way in which Sengoku Rance had previously been set up. I admire your goal of bringing info from the Alice Soft Wiki here, which you stated on your user page. I think that's a great idea, and because they have a compatible license (CC-BY-SA), we can use whatever they have as long as we properly attribute them. Let me know if you have any questions or would like any help importing their guide. :) — najzereT 21:38, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure if it notifies you of what I respond with on my Talk page, but what exactly is the rules on importing? Is there a template I should use that properly credits other wiki's? And I completely stole your sig. Sorry. [= JepjrTalk 22:43, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
When importing information from other sources (that are compatibly licensed) you just need to add your attribution to the edit summary, which usually consists of a URL of the source document and the author's name. You can see something like that on this history page. Hope that helps! — najzereT 23:42, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Preload buttons

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box, which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — najzereT 23:50, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Image uploads

Please see our policy on image naming and categorization. For consistency and ease of use throughout the wiki, image names should contain the name of the game or its abbreviation and a one or two word description. All images also need the appropriate categories added, as well as the guide-specific image category (e.g. [[Category:Game Name images]]). Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — najzereT 23:50, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Also, it is not necessary to have a cover from every system a game comes on – we're more interested in the artwork itself rather than the interchangeable logos on top of the art. — najzereT 23:50, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
It was also the main image for the game, which totally went over my head, but dually noted. --- JepjrTalk 00:21, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for naming those ME2 weapon images correctly and categorizing them as Icons. Just remember to put the guide-specific image category (e.g. [[Category:Mass Effect 2 images]]) and we'll be all set! Cheers, — najzereT 17:22, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Please ensure that all uploads have an image category describing what they are (e.g. [[Category:Icons]]) as well as the guide-specific category. Also note that [[Category:Guide-specific images]] never goes on an image, only on an image category, such as Category:Sengoku Rance images. Let me know if you have any questions or need further clarification. Thanks, — najzereT 18:47, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Editing

It would probably help if you read through the user guide (it was linked in your welcome message), which will inform you of a lot of these little things we're running into (new pages, images, external links, standard links on the Table of Contents page, etc.). It take a little experience to get the hang of all the formatting and templates and whatnot, but hang in there – we appreciate your edits! — najzereT 23:50, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about the poor editing. I'm starting to get the hang of it. --- JepjrTalk 00:21, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
No prob! Keep up the good work! :D — najzereT 00:31, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Image renaming

No one sees the image name, so as long as they're somewhat meaningful it doesn't really matter what the filename is. It's just not worth the trouble (page moves, deleting the redirect, updating the guide pages) for very minor change. "PNG" vs. "png" is just a guideline anyway; the wiki treats them both the same. — najzereT 23:38, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Righto, I've seen it done that way in other places. Then please ignore those requests I put in. SRTakugaIcon.pngJepjrT
No problem, I already reverted them. :P Thanks for doing so much cleanup around here lately! — najzereT 23:44, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Achievement/trophy images

Hey, thanks for adding all those Star Ocean images. These images get either Category:Achievement images, Category:Trophy images or both to categorize them. Category:Xbox 360 achievements, Category:PlayStation 3 trophies and other categories in Category:Achievements go on achievement and/or trophy pages, like Star Ocean: The Last Hope/Achievements and trophies. Hope that helps. :) — najzereT 15:58, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Ahh, sorry about that. Didn't mean to have to make you change all those images. I just took a quick glimpse at the info page, I didn't read the whole thing. Dually noted. SRTakugaIcon.pngJepjrT 22:00, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, what do we do if the game has two different images for it's trophies and achievements? or different trophies and achievements for that matter? SRTakugaIcon.pngJepjrT 23:09, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, it depends on how different they are and how many of the images are different. I'm kind of on the fence for Star Ocean, since the trophies are basically the same, just inside picture frames or something. If you feel like it, you can get all the trophy ones and put them in the description cells, but if you don't think it's worth it, I would understand that too. — najzereT 23:23, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
