Proceed down the path to find a ramp that leads to a lower level of the area. In this area the Kid will encounter the Shard, but he'll pass out before he can pick it up. The subsequent hallucination forms the majority of this stage.

Prosper Bluff, Hanging Gardens, and Bastion[edit]

The Kid wakes in what appears to be Prosper Bluff, where Stinkeyes will attack. These small enemies are highly resistant to damage when their eyes are closed, which will be the case if the Kid faces them. Defeat them by striking immediately after turning toward them. The Singer will appear after all enemies have been defeated. Interact with her to travel to The Hanging Gardens, where you must defeat Gasfellas in order to open a gate. Defeat the Gasfellas and large Squirts past the gate to trigger the appearance of the Survivor. Interact with him to travel to The Bastion. Past a Lunkhead, a Wallflower, and an adult Pecker is the Skyway, which you can use to reach the Saloon from the Wharf District.

Wharf District and Campsite[edit]

At the Ordinary Campsite, the orb of light gives subtle instruction on what task to perform next.

In the Saloon, destroy all of the Security Turrets and the Squirt generator, then go up the stairs and destroy the ashes of the man that stands there. This triggers a scene change to the start of the game; as in the start, wake up the Kid and go down the sole path. Destroy the plush Pyth in the way to find the Cael Hammer, though it transforms into a doppelganger of the Kid. Maintain a distance from him and use ranged attacks, as the only weapon he has access to is the Cael Hammer. Continue down the path after defeating him to trigger a scene change to an unfamiliar location, the Ordinary Campsite.

The Ordinary Campsite is a representation of what life was like for the Kid before the Calamity. He will have to perform fittingly ordinary tasks in order to conclude the hallucination here, starting by taking ore from the cart on the tracks and placing it in the cart near the Kid's bedroll, which the orb of light should be hovering near. Next, take wood from the pile at the top of the screen and place it in the campfire to get a flame going. Finally, interact with the bedroll to rest. This concludes the hallucination and finally allows the Kid to pick up the Shard back at Jawson Bog.

Back at Jawson Bog[edit]

After picking up the Shard, proceed down the path to the south to encounter a Bootlicker, an enemy that traps the Kid in a cage if he gets close. Defeat it by shooting from a distance to encounter the real threat past it, in the form of a horde of enemies. This includes a Lungblossom, which can rain projectiles down on the Kid's position, more Bootlickers, and Pincushions, as well as Stinkeyes hidden in the ground. Defeat the enemies that surround the Lungblossom before tackling it, making sure to block its projectiles in the process. If you require extra assistance, a path to the right of this area holds a Health Tonic and Black Tonic. After defeating all enemies, the Skyway to the Bastion will appear at last.
