The game text has several minor errors, that have been corrected in this page.

Red decoder

Area 1

Communication: "Prepare to receive a message from another Bionic Commando." "Come in, Rad. I have some info regarding your Sniper Scope. Some areas have locations where you can use the Sniper Scope to defeat enemies that are a great distance away. When you see a sniper icon, press Up on the Control Pad to use your scope. When using your scope, you must take enemies out quickly or you will be defeated. If all the enemies are defeated in a short period of time, then an allied drop ship will deploy emergency supplies to your location. There is an area where you can use your scope to the right of the communication room."

Tap: "We have completed construction of the missile site and await orders." "Excellent! Make sure that no one tampers with the control module."

Area 1 complete! You now have Energy Recovery Pills. Energy Recovery Pills restore your health when used.

Area 2

Communication: "Rad, when you get into the base near here you may have to drop down through the platforms. In order to do this, press Down twice on the Control Pad."

Tap: "Sir, Private Redmer requests some information on elevator use and safety." "Sigh... Alright. Tell him to press Up or Down on the Control Pad when standing on an elevator patform, and make sure he does not fall down any more shafts."

Communication: "Rad, Arturus has built this complex as a staging zone to attack Karinia. In order to demolish the base, you must destroy the reactor at the base core."

Tap: "The base has been infiltrated! Get all available units to the reactor core!" "Yes, Sir!"

Boss: "Here comes the intruder! Alpha Platoon, attack!"

Area 2 complete! You now have the Key Card. The Key Card will grant you access to locked areas.

Area 3

Communication: "Rad, your bionic eye is equipped with the ability to see platforms that are out of range. To use it, hold Up or Down on the Control Pad for a few seconds."

Tap: "I heard a rumor that the Albatross Project is an ancient war machine that has been buried for several centuries. Arturus has been looking for it for quite some time."

Boss: "You clawed freak! My shield is impervious to your weapons. I will finish you here."

Area 3 complete! You now have the Helmet. The Helmet will protect you from one point of damage.

Area 4

Communication: "Rad, the enemy is tracking the signal from your decoder. I have sent a commando to this area in order to give you a new decoder. This commando is waiting for you in the temple with the open door."

Tap: "...and when he is successful, no one will stand in our... Hey, someone is listening in. Attack!" "Attack!"

Commando: "It is good to see you, Rad! I have placed the Green decoder in the generator room at the top of a nearby waterfall. You can use this decoder on areas 6, 7, 8 and 9."

Boss: "Here comes the intruder! Beta Platoon, attack!"

Area 4 complete! You now have the Green Decoder. The Green Decoder is needed on areas 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Area 5

Gate: "Access denied. A key card is required for entry." "Insert key card here. To use key card, press Select."

Communication: "The soldier who protects this base is extremely fast. Rad, you must find a way to slow him down before you try to hurt him."

Tap: "No one can catch me! I am faster than ten fast men!"

Boss: "You are a fool to try and defeat me. Now witness my incredible speed!"

Area 5 complete! You now have the Fast Charge Device. The Fast Charge Device charges your gun twice as fast.

Green decoder

Area 4 (revisited)

Communication: "Well done, Rad! You have unlocked area 16. This area is an old obstacle course. If you are successful in completing it, then we will give you a promotion point. As a promotion point is picked up, it will change the color of your uniform to show your rank."

Tap: "So, you are saying I can tape one program while watching another?" "Yes." "What if the television is off? Can I still record?" "Yes." "How do I set the clock?" "...Sigh..."

Neutral area 16

Area 16 complete! You have been promoted!

Area 6 (M/F)

Communication (M): "We believe that Arturus built this factory in order to mass-produce weapons for his army."

Tap (M): "This weapon is superb. With just one pull of the trigger it can..." BANG! "The safety is off, Sir" "Yes, I see that now."

Communication (F): "Reports tell us that Arturus has a weapon research center near here. Gain access and you can obtain a prototype of an Avar weapon."

Tap (F): "Excavation has begun. Soon Arturus will unearth the terror known as the Albatross."

Boss: "Foolish commando. I possess a weapon of limitless power. Now prepare to meet your doom!"

Area 6 complete! You now have the Wide Gun. The Wide Gun allows you to fire in three directions.

Area 7

Communication: "Rad, listen to me! At the top of this cavern there is a large artillery cannon. The cannon is a huge threat to Karinia. You must destroy it!"

Tap: "The control panels for the cannon are all in place. Tell your men to activate the control panels on each cannon. Also, tell them to be careful: the control panels are very fragile."

Area 7 complete! You now have the Steel Boots. The Steel Boots allow you to hurt enemies when you swing into them.

Area 8

Communication: "Arturus used to be a member of our Elite Forces, but we had to banish him because of his overwhelming thirst for greed and power. I had no idea that his lust for power would come to all this."

Tap: "All units prepare for a message from the mighty Arturus!" "It appears as if the Elite Forces have been sent in. Not to worry. We will move their precious Commander Joe to the city. Wait! Someone is tapping into this message! Attack!" "Attack!"

Boss: "Here comes the intruder! Delta Platoon, attack!"

Area 8 complete! You now have the Vest. The Vest will protect you from two points of damage.

Area 9 (M/F)

Communication: "Rad, the Blue Decoder is being held by the guardian drone at the end of this area. You will need it while you are in areas 10, 11 and 12."

Tap: "Legends say that it was created to protect the planet from invaders on other worlds. However, it was far too powerful and had to be dismantled to ensure it did not fall into the wrong hands."

Boss: "Welcome, puny commando. I al the main security officer. I have been monitoring your futile attempts at stopping us. I have something here that may shock you."

Area 9 complete! You now have the Blue Decoder. The Blue Decoder is needed in areas 10, 11 and 12.

Blue decoder

Area 10

Communication: "Rad, you have successfully entered the Avar capital city. Our sources tell us that Arturus has a laboratory at the top of the tallest building. If you can get past the security system, you may be able to find a useful item."

Tap: "I do not want the commandos getting their hands on the laser technology. We need it for the main thrust inducer of the Albatross!" "The laser is well protected by our security system."

Area 10 complete! You now have the Laser Gun. The Laser Gun does tremendous damage to all of your foes.

Area 11 (M/F)

Communication: "Have you had any luck finding Commander Joe? You must hurry! We fear he may not have much time left."

Tap: "My sensors indicate an unauthorized user." "Attack!"

Boss: "Intruder alert! Switching to attack mode! Target is locked. Preparing to fire..."

Area 11 (M) complete! You now have the Rocket Launcher. The Rocket Launcher blasts enemies away.

Area 11 (F) complete! You now have the Pulse Cannon. The Pulse Cannon allows you to fire through barrels.

Area 12

Communication: "Rad, we have located Commander Joe. Our reports indicate he was taken to the deserts of area 13. Try to commandeer an enemy chopper to get you there. If you can blast open the door to the cockpit, you may be able to sneak in."

Tap: "We are sending a new group of inmates to the prison camp in the desert. They should arrive there shortly" "Excellent! I will sharpen my blade."

Area 12 complete! You now have the Yellow Decoder. The Yellow Decoder is needed on areas 13, 14 and 15.

Yellow decoder

Area 11 (revisited)

Communication: "Well done, Rad! You have unloked area 17. This area is a dingy sewer. If you are successful in completing it, then we will give you a promotion point. As a promotion point is picked up, it will change the color of your uniform to show your rank."

Tap: "All units prepare for a message from the mighty Arturus!" "Today we will make scumptious Arturus chocolate chip cookies. It is an Avar law that all infantry have a parent present when making these. Now for a list of ingredients: 1/2 c lard, 1/2 c butter, 21/2 c sugar, 3/4 c brown sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 3/4 bag of chocolate chips, and last but not least... 4 tsp of Love. First, mix the lard and the butter. Get them creamy. Now mix in half of the flour, the brown sugar, sugar, eggs, vanilla and baking soda. Mix well, then add the rest of the flour. We all know I love chocolate, so I add all the chocolate chips. It is up to you if you want to use less. Lastly, bake at 375 [Fahreneit] degrees for 8 to 10 minutes and enjoy! Join us next week when we will be making the executioner's delicious egg salad. Goodbye."

Area 13

Communication: "I see that you have found the prison. This is where they keep all prisoners of war. Commander Joe must be close by."

Tap: "Sir, it appears as if Private Redmer is lost again. He says he cannot remember where the hidden door is." "Ugh! Not again! This is his eighth time getting lost down here. Tell him it is behind one of the..."

Boss: "Welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival. You are skilled in the art of war. It will be quite a pleasure watching you die."

Super Joe: "Congratulations, Rad! I was worried that the hooded clown was the last person I was going to see. We can catch up later, but Arturus will complete the repairs to the Albatross soon if we do not hurry." "What is the Albatross project anyway?" "Centuries ago our world was threatened by annihilation from an alien race. To protect ourselves, all countries united to produce a weapon of unstoppable power. They were successful in producing the weapon. The only problem was that once the alien threat was abolished, the question of who should possess the Albatross Project remained. The Karinian leaders decided that it would be best to dismantle this doomsday machine and bury it deep underground, in hopes that no one would find it." "How do I stop the Albatross?" "Arturus has two facilities dedicated to the completion of the Albatross. One is a fuel depot, and the other one is a power station. Arturus has both these facilities hidden deep within ancient structures. If you destroy both facilities, then Arturus will not be able to complete the Albatross. I will head back to the Command Center and debrief them. I will meet with you once you are done with your mission."

Area 13 complete! You now have the Rapid Fire Device. The Rapid Fire Device fires three projectiles at once.

Area 14

Communication: "This is the base where Arturus is going to fuel the Albatross battle platform! If you can destroy the control gauge found in the fuel storage room, the base will be destroyed."

Tap: "Remember not to fire your weapon when you are in the fuel room." "Yes, Sir!"

Arturus: "The fuel room has become unstable! Everyone get out of the base!"

Area 14 complete! You now have the Flamethrower. The Flamethrower blazes through all of your foes!

Area 15

Communication: "Rad, the Albatross is using a generator to re-energize its power cells. If you can destroy the reactor core, then we may be able to cut off its energy supply."

Tap: "The Elite Forces may have come this far, but I have discovered the true power of the Albatross. Those fools will pay with their lives."

Boss: "Here comes the intruder! Omega Platoon, attack!"

Area 15 complete! You now have the Body Armor! The Body Armor will protect you from three points of damage.

Area 18

Arturos: "This is a message to the arrogant Commandos! You are too late. Your attempts at stopping me are futile. I have managed to get the Albatross online. Now watch as I destroy you." General: "We have detected the Albatross! It is on the way to Karinia! Rad, you must stop Arturus once and for all."

Boss (Arturos): "Well, well, well, if it is not one of the Elite Forces. I was once in your shoes, being told what to think and say, but then I discovered something that they were hiding. I stumbled upon an old manuscript that told of a weapon of enormous strength. This weapon actually was not made, but fell from the sky. Apparently it was a wrecked space vessel, and he who controlled the space vessel had the power to morph into a being of sheer terror. That is the reason the Albatross was buried, so that one man would not have indescribable powers, but now I have control and you shall be the first to witness the true power of the Albatross."
