Flow Free is a simple puzzle game where you connect two like-colored points by dragging from one to the other with your finger on a touchscreen device. When you touch a color, a large circle of the same color will pop up under your finger so you can see where you are on the grid as you drag. When you get to the other point, the circle will brighten, otherwise it is a bit dimmer when you are on blank squares in the grid. The goal is to fill every square in the grid without crossing lines.

Your moves are tracked, and completing the grid in the fewest moves gets you star, otherwise you finish with a checkmark. There are achievements associated with completing a certain number of grids either perfectly or with a checkmark.

Options[edit]

When you start the app, you will be presented with a few options you can select by tapping. The first two are the two gameplay modes, free play and time trial. Free play allows you to go through each puzzle taking as long as you like. Time trial allows you to set a duration during which the game will serve up puzzles, and you try to complete as many as you can within the time limits. In time trial, grid sizes range from 5×5 to 9×9 and you can choose durations of 30 seconds, one minute, two minutes or four minutes.

In the settings option, you can adjust the game volume, turn the flow labels on or off (default is off) for colorblind players, reset your progress or restore past purchases. In the about option, you can see a short explanation of the gameplay, view your achievements, review the app or send feedback.

Puzzle packs[edit]

The free version of the game starts with two packs, the Regular Pack and the Jumbo Pack. You can also get more packs through an in-app purchase, which removes ads from the game as well. Each pack contains 150 puzzles, divided into five grid sizes of 30 puzzles each. The packs with the larger grids (10×10 to 14×14) are more easily played on larger devices like an iPad.

When you select a puzzle pack to play, you will see the collection of 30 puzzles for the smallest grid size and you scroll over to the other sizes by swiping them over. Each collection of 30 puzzles is laid out in a grid of small numbered boxes, and tapping a box will take you to that puzzle. Successfully completing the puzzle will present you with the option to continue to the next puzzle or play again.
