Upon starting a new game, after watching the intro cutscene that sets up the plot of the game, you'll be automatically thrust into the game's tutorial, playing as Beat in Shibuya. The tutorial consists of two sets of three challenges each, where you'll be tasked with copying what the other character does.

Gum's Challenge[edit]

First up is Gum, and her first challenge is pretty simple. While she tells you how to dash and jump, you don't really need to dash; just tilt the left analog stick to move forward, turn right, then head towards the parked car and jump on top of it.

Gum's second challenge is also fairly easy, showing you how to grind on rails. Just jump onto the rail to your right (you'll automatically attach to it, and you don't need to worry about balancing), and grind it all the way to the end.

Gum's final challenge is slightly more complicated, as she introduces you to tagging; mandatory tags are marked by red arrows, while the optional tags you'll see after the tutorial are marked by green arrows. Pick up the orange spray cans in front of you as you go forward, tagging the cars to your left (as these are small tags, you don't need to stop to do so). Jump onto the rail beyond the cars to grab some more spray cans, then jump onto the other rail in front of you and grind right, tagging the car and van as you pass by them. That's Gum's challenge done, and she now joins you!

Tab's Challenge[edit]

Now you'll be approached by Tab, whose first challenge introduces larger tags. Hop across the rooftops in front of you, picking up the blue spray cans (worth 5 each) along the way. Once you reach the red arrow at the end, hold down the tag button and follow the on-screen directions with the left analog stick to lay down a tag.

Moving to a new area of Shibuya, Tab's second challenge shows you how to hitch a ride behind cars. Just approach a car from behind and your character will automatically grab on to the rear bumper (be careful not to touch the sides or front, or you'll take damage instead). Ride behind a car to the top of the hill, then tilt the left analog stick back to detach from the car. Pick up the spray cans to your left, then skate back downhill, taking care to avoid oncoming traffic as you do. Once you return to your starting area, grind right on the rail and tag the wall as you pass by.

For the final tutorial challenge, you and Tab go back to the starting area of Shibuya, and he tasks you with jumping from rail to rail. While it may look tricky at first, you don't need to move the left analog stick once you start grinding; your momentum alone will carry you across the turns of the rails and through the air to your next destination. Just hop onto the first rail, leap onto the second, then jump over to the stairway railing, and ride it across the two right turns before making one final hop onto the roof before you. With the tutorial complete, Tab now joins you, imparting upon you one final piece of advice: bullets won't hit you while you're dashing. Sounds like that'll come in handy should you run into any trigger-happy cops in the near-future.

Onto Chapter 1[edit]

Now the first chapter of the game commences, and you'll automatically arrive at the GGs' garage. This is the main menu of the game, and from here on, you'll be able to choose whatever levels you want to do first at your leisure, by selecting "Street". For now, though, you can only proceed to Shibuya GG.
