Changes from Quinty to Mendel Palace[edit]

Change settings / names
The story and the names of each character have been redesigned, and Bon-Bon (Japanese version of Carton) and Non-Non (Japanese version of Parton) are trapped in their own nightmare world, Princess Candy (Japanese version of Jenny). The goal is to rescue Jenny. At the same time, the role of each enemy character has been changed to "dolls who do not wake up Candy Princess from sleep".
The names of the enemy characters correspond as follows. Below, the changes of each enemy will be explained with the name of the Japanese version.
  • Moko-Moko --Walkman
  • Dragon --Jumper
  • Vinci --Artist
  • Sumo --Plump
  • Toby --Acrobat
  • Tako --Ballerina
  • Wasser --Swimmer
  • Mira --Mimi
In addition, the characters corresponding to Illustrated Man, Cossack, Plum, and Quinty are not given unique names, and Try and Secum do not appear.
Character design changes
The title screen is a group image of Quinty and each enemy character. The coat color is completely different from the Japanese version, but Ken Sugimori, who worked on the Japanese version, was in charge of the original and pixel art. This was well received by overseas staff, so another illustrator created a package illustration based on this.
This package illustration is the basis for each character design in the North American version, and is also used in the character introduction in the manual. The design and settings have been significantly changed from the Japanese version, and the character that was originally the Quinty in the illustration was Mira (Japanese version of Mimi). However, these changes in the North American version of the illustration are not reflected in the pixel art in the game.
Round configuration change / replacement
The number of panel layers in most rounds has decreased, and the number of star panels, enemy panels, lock panels, etc. has decreased accordingly. The composition and order of the bonus stages have also been changed.
Some rounds will be replaced with those on the back side, and rounds with the same composition as 11, 16, 73, 98, 99 on the back side will appear on the final stage.
Change the design of some panels
  • Time panel: Hourglass picture → Chinese numeral "Samurai"
  • 10 stars on the roulette panel: STARS, star with face → STAR, star with "10" inside
Changes in enemy characteristics
  • The Blue Walkman and Kid now make the same turn as the Green Walkman.
  • The flight time of the red acrobatics has been shortened.
  • The artist's graffiti replaces the naked body with a sailor suit.
Changes in stage bosses
  • Cottage stage: Try → Quinty
  • Tower stage: Red acrobatics → brown acrobatics
  • Club Stage: Secum → Quinty
  • Mushroom Stage: Plum → Quinty
  • Castle stage: Plum enhanced version → Plum (color scheme changes from red to yellow-green)
  • Castle in the Sky (Round 9): Plum Enhanced Edition
The modified Quinty uses only one type of magic that transforms into an enemy that appeared on that stage.
