Coins, emeralds, and balloons are basic elements in every course. The final level Radiant Emerald is the only exception to this rule. This level lacks coins and emeralds.
Coins[edit]
Each course has five coins to collect. If you collect them all and finish 3rd or better, you will race against a secret character. The character will be unlocked if you win.
Emeralds[edit]
Each course has one or more Emeralds. To keep an Emerald you must finish the race in first place. Collect all seven to unlock Super Sonic.
Balloons[edit]
Each course has nine balloons to collect in two player mode. The first player to collect five wins.
