Clad in black and gazing at the world with gray-blue eyes, Boris presents the world with the image of a lonely swordsman - surprising many when they learn that he's just seventeen. Despite his slim body and small frame, his superb talent with two-handed blades, great swords, and the mysterious art of Spirit Fencing prove that he is a force to be reckoned with. Sheathed by his side, his sword Winterer appears to be a normal bastard sword - but in reality it's a blade with magical power that could change the world, a fact that the original wielder, his brother Jephenen, may not have known.

Boris is calm and collected, never losing his poise under any circumstance. Proving to be the ice to Lucian's fire, his logical manner tends to give an impression of cynicism towards life. Some would even say that he's a gravely serious person, an individualist that never gets involved. His habit of not talking too often tends to reinforce this, for good or for ill.

Character Background

Born from a noble family in Travaches, Boris lost his parents at a very young age: his mother died giving birth to him, and his father was killed in a violent political struggle. Boris was then raised by his brother Jephenen, who took Boris with him to Orlanne after their parents died. Jephenen was a swordsman that worked his way up to the Royal Knights of Orlanne, a foreign country where he initially had no family or friends upon whom he could turn for help.

Boris's life of solitude and self-loathing suddenly changed when he rescued Lucian Kaltz's father, getting him hired as Lucian's escort. After Lucian saved him from danger, Boris slowly started opening his heart to Lucian, who he feels truly understands him.

Boris isn't driven by any personal goals or ambitions, and has only come to Narvik to help Lucian become an adventurer. He is helping Lucian not only out of duty as Lucian's escort, but also out of loyalty as his best friend. During his travels with Lucian and in working for Accipiter, however, Boris has stumbled upon new information about Jephenen's whereabouts. Now he's searching for his brother Jephenen in the hope that he might still be alive.
