I've always found the best buying prices in villages, not towns. For example, you can find furs for around 50 or less, and sell them in a distant town for over 400.
There's also a helpful trick to finding out approximately the maximum price you can sell goods for. You do this by asking to see a companion's inventory, and then mouse-over the goods in question. (Your own inventory screen only shows prices that look like the prices you paid for the goods.) This makes it easy for people unfamiliar with the prices to be able to know when to buy and when to finally sell while traveling around the map stopping at each village and town.72.79.178.28 03:59, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
