Bad Spray[edit]

Someone please verify if the X should remain for this move. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:35, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Confirmed. Checked against 4 or 5 other FAQs, everyone agrees it is available to X-ISM Cody. Procyon 20:52, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
What does "reversal-only" mean? I'm trying to do the move and I can't seem to get anything special to happen. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 21:34, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
It means it may only be performed as a counter-attack, so the game will only accept the input and perform the move while Cody is in a hit-stun phase. If Cody hasn't been hit, then performing the motion does nothing. Reversals have limitations on when you can perform them, but they almost always connect when they are performed successfully. I was looking on this GFAQ guide and it was talking about how you can do it after being knocked down. So far that's the only way I've been able to do it (when Cody's sprite changes to him falling vertically backwards, that's when I can pull off the move). In the same manner, the guide describes Sodom's Tengu Walking move as only being possible after being knocked down, and I've gotten it to work in the same way. However, after testing Cody for the last hour or so, I can only pull off Bad Spray in A-ISM or V-ISM. X-ISM just won't do anything using the Back-DownBack-Down-Punch move. Also, since this character and Sodom have a move with that motion, does that mean they can't roll? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:05, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
NMH, I salute your tenacity. I went to two very trustworthy sources: The SFZ3 Gamest Mook, and the Japanese command.dat file for MAME. It seems that the anonymous editor was correct, and they agree with your findings. Bad Spray is not available in X-ISM. You can see the Japanese command.dat entry for Cody here. Thank you. I just really wanted to find out for myself =) These sort of things are super hard to figure out because of how precise the timing must be. Since I've never played SF3A, it took me a while to figure it out (especially because I didn't even know what the move looked like), and even then I wasn't sure. I think I tested X, A, and V-Ism at least 3 different times for several fights, with each level of punch (gotta make sure they all work). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:47, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
