The Silver Case uses the Film Window system to tell its story. The gameplay mainly consists of advancing dialogue, but there are 3D areas you have to move in and a few puzzles to solve.

During 3D portions, there will be a menu in the bottom right of the screen that has four letters.

  • M - Switch to movement controls
  • C - Interact with objects or talk to people
  • I - Use an item or show information
  • S - Save the game

There are two types of marks, sun and triangle, that you can move to. Sun marks either trigger an event or has an object or character to "contact". The contact text will have an arrow pointing to the direction you need to face. In some cases, you may need to look up or down. If you there are character portraits in the window, you can talk to them with the contact option.

Transmitter and Placebo[edit]

The story is divided into two branches, Transmitter and Placebo. Transmitter cases center around the members of the Heinous Crime Unit as they investigate crimes. Placebo reports follow a reporter, Tokio Morishima.
