Create a free account[edit]

Hello, thank you for editing StrategyWiki! We'd love to see you become a part of our growing community by signing up. It's very quick, doesn't require an e-mail address, and when editing, you'll be identified by the user name you choose instead of your IP address. Hope to see you soon! — Procyon 20:42, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Stop making a mess[edit]

 1. Please register an account already so it's easier to talk with you. There's no reason to have made so many edits anonymously.
 2. Stop what you're doing because there's much better, less confusing ways of doing what you're trying to accomplish. See The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Hyrule Castle as an example of how we handle multiple controller input pages. Procyon 16:01, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for switching over to the controller selection template. It will make the improvements that you are making much easier for people to read. You're welcome to continue to edit anonymously, but a) you deserve some kind of credit for all the work that you're doing and b) it just makes it easier for other people to collaborate with you if they can call you by some name rather than just an IP address. You're not even required to provide an email address if you don't want to give one when you register. We don't email our users anyway. Procyon 19:35, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

I like to be anonymously —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 77.251.240.152 (talkcontribs) .

Me, too, for the most part. You will actually be more anonymous with a name, since people can look up your ISP and geo-location with your IP information. Once you create a user account, which could be like "ASJFHS" if you don't care about the name part, just don't add anything to your user page. The biggest benefit to yourself is that you can start a "Watch" list, by clicking watch on any page that you edit. Then, there is a "watchlist" page that you can go to where your watched pages will pop up if someone has edited them. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:32, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Well call me random

The problem with that is that User talk:random doesn't go anywhere. This is the only way we can talk to you, and it's unlikely that you're going to have this specific IP address forever. I won't try to persuade you anymore. However, as an admin on the site who is always trying to understand how we can better serve our users, if you wouldn't mind explaining to me why you prefer to remain anonymous, I would appreciate it. If it's something that we're doing wrong, I'd like to try and fix it. Thanks. Procyon 23:51, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Control selector order[edit]

I see some variation in the order you selected for control selector (e.g. PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox). I think we should use that as the correct order as that is the order on the main page's infobox related to release dates (PS2, Windows, Xbox). Make sure you use the same order on different pages. I think I saw "PS2, 360, PC" on one of them. I will help to correct that. Thank you for your contributions. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:02, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

I don't want the things that with account and stuff so i can do it freely at my on leisure

Image: is deprecated[edit]

Use File: instead (don't worry about the ones you already put in, I will change those). It saves 1 byte per usage. Thanks for putting all the icons in! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:02, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

^Please read this! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:15, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Bump2. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:57, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

What is your point? I just copy paste the image code. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 77.251.240.152 (talkcontribs) .

My point is use File:, not Image:. It saves space. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:05, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Controller icons on control tables[edit]

Hi "random", two things to point out:

 1. Adding controller icons to walkthrough content is fine, but please do not add them to the Controls sections of pages, as they make them very hard to read. The idea is for the player to quickly look to the left, find the control that they are interested in learning about, and then reading about it. When you put control icons all over the place, it becomes very hard for the reader to identify what they were looking for, and find the information quickly. I have reverted most of the edits you made that are like this.
 2. It is much more preferable if you edit the entire page at once, making all of your changes, than to edit each page one section at a time, piling up lots of small edits. Please try to consolidate your edits as you go through each page so that you edit them the minimal number of times.

Thanks very much. Procyon 17:41, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Stop adding images[edit]

This is why having an account would be preferable. I've reverted all of your edits to both Legend of Zelda guides. Marking up a guide with images is good to a point, but you're not really helping that much by doing what you're doing, without any thought to the quality of the outcome.

 1. The images were only added to the Link to the Past guide when they were found. They should not be added each and every time an item is mentioned.
 2. The images in the original Legend of Zelda guide are much too big to be inserted with the rest of the text. I can't believed you thought that would be acceptable. The images sizes can be shrunk down to something more reasonable. If you bothered to look up how to do it, the additions would not have been so egregious.
 3. There's no point in bold-facing every occurrence of the word "key" or "bomb", those are not particularly special treasures. Other items, maybe, but not basic items.

Between this and your insistence not to register, you're making it very difficult for us to consider you a welcome contributor. Perhaps you should focus on adding new content to existing guides, or even starting a new guide, as opposed to just marking up existing guides. That would be much more helpful. Procyon 19:48, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Also, stop editing one piece of the page at a time! Edit the whole page, use "Show Preview" to check your work, and then save the page once when it is complete! Procyon 19:50, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Discussion about your editing[edit]

I've started a discussion about whether to continue or suspend your editing privileges with the rest of the staff. You are welcome to add your comments to the discussion. Your continued insistence to ignore the advice and instructions that we give you, including registering an account and making only one edit to a page instead of frequent multiple edits, has forced to me ask whether your editing privileges should be revoked. Procyon 14:12, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Stop using
[edit]

I have been erasing every instance of
that you are injecting. It is unnecessary. Just add an empty line.

^^^ This accomplished the same thing and is less confusing to other editors. Procyon 21:20, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users.
