Hey, Got Some News
Sourcing
Hey Procyon, it's been a bit since we last spoke. After all the hours I put into Tower of Druaga I finally decided to make my first Youtube video about the "Darkness Tower" and soon "Another Tower" since there were literally no videos on them whatsoever (and as far as I can tell only one based on the original arcade game). I thought you might want to check it out since it was your guide that got me to the point where I could make the video. I gave you credit for the guide as I included a miniature version of it so people knew what I was doing in each part. I only posted it yesterday. Was my first time using the camcorder so I didn't know about the auto brightness adjust or the slant despite it sitting flat, but my "Another Tower" video will have those fixed. The link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlIpo8kkKOI and thanks again for all your hard work on this game. --PrinceGilgamesh 08:15, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm looking to convert a lot of screenshots and you're responsible for a lot of em. Do you remember if you captured any of the screenshots below? If not, remember where they came from? I would share more, but can only generate 500 at a time!

:Hi Trig Jegman. Yeah, I captured a lot of those images personally, especially the single screen games like Combat, Bubble Bobble, Lode Runner, and Chack'n Pop.  Other games like Castle Excellent and Athena were done so long ago, I'm not sure I'd be able to locate them again if I tried. I have a tendency to add markup to them in the process of making them consumable for a walkthrough.  I know this isn't the most satisfactory answer, but it's the best I have right now. If I somehow conjure up the source for some of the other images, I'll let you know. But I'm more likely to stumble across them accidentally than intentionally. == RE: Edit Summaries ==
Thanks for the Thanks
Hey Procyon, its PrinceGilgamesh. My apologies, I'm still new to using wiki and didn't know it was more appreciated to give more extensive information. I've just been playing this game for quite a bit now and wanted to update things for future users. I see from the talk below that you were the one who probably made up most of that guide? If so, I wasn't trying to offend you in any way. If I can change the summary information I will gladly add more info. Fellow Druaga fan, PrinceGilgamesh 21:07, 1 June 2010 (EST)

I didn't realize you could continue until today. The whole time I was trying to climb back up to floor 28. So now that I could continue from floor 28 to figure out the command, its that a roper must cross you and the door at the same time. 01:05, 9 June 2010 (EST)
Hey Procyon,

Additions
No problem! After I finish the RSE guide, I'm going to apply the new templates me and Prod made to the FRLG pages too - Hopefully, it'll decrease the file size for them. Then I'll probably check out the other Pokémon guides to see what they're like, and maybe go onto a different franchise. Pakuchi -- Someone! Anyone! Respond! 13:54, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
Hey Procyon, ReyVGM here. I've emailed you before about Tower of Druaga information but you never replied. I guess you must have changed emails.
I'll just drop the info here then for future reference:

I played the Sharp X1 and MSX ports of Tower of Druaga and the solutions are NOT the same for those games. The first few levels work the same, but not the advanced ones.
I need some guidance
The MSX version also appears to have a new enemy type according to a Japanese page I found.
Hi Procyon! Um, honestly I am kind of embarrassed on pinging you about this considering that you are the head of StrategyWiki, but the thing is, I want to ask for guidance from you regarding about some of my guides because recently I have been thinking of something, I want to know what you think and what will be your advice to me regarding about this, this will be somewhat long so I hope you have time to read, also thank you very much for writing on my Talk page along with Prod, so here it is, I've been thinking of this for quite a while now.

I also have something for the Famicom/MSX2 Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Dōchū. On your guide you group them both together, but the MSX2 version actually has a ton more levels that the Famicom version doesn't.
You see, I have these 2 games named Astrobatics and Alien Sky that I made a Stage 2 guide from, and what bothers me is that no matter how much I think of how to improve the guides for these 2 (I can still improve them, in fact 2 more overhauls each but it is not that significant anymore) I can't really think of what more I can provide for these 2 games to make the guides for them Stage 3 eligible, the issue I am thinking about is its levels, or missions as what the games refer, it is some sort of a real time mission
You see, on the Fami version, when you beat the game, you go to a new province/district of Japan (8 in all), but all the levels remain the same. You still get a different ending per district though.
Now, on the MSX2 version, when you finish the game, you go to the next district/province (7 in all), but the levels are completely different. There are actually 48 original levels in all. You get a different ending per province too.

Reason to remove compilation versions for games?
The problem with these missions is that they really can't be described anymore with text + picture, while these games have predictable pacing as what I mentioned in its Walkthrough page, this is a roadblock that I feel like its unnecessary to break through
I think its helpful to know about all the versions, and
systems. Since there are differences between them. IE. Ms. Pac-Man

About the <s>enchanted</s> enhanced sprites
Explaining these missions "down to the bone" as in referring to where would enemies come in, come out, and all that, just feels like unnecessary information and nobody would basically read it, a good example of a game just like this is Sky Force Reloaded, a game I have also nearly mastered a few months ago, I even have my runs in this game uploaded in my YouTube account and I can provide a sample, and just like these 2 games, Sky Force Reloaded also has the same kind of level, basically real time, it has predictable pacing but the levels are way too complex to be torn apart into text + picture form, if you want to recognize the levels of this game you would rather want to just do a trial and error, train your mind memory and muscle memory until you recognize where will enemies appear since enemy positions and appearances don't change, only drops do.

Hello there. I wanted to ask you something. About the enchanted sprites used in some of the articles, (such as for the Pac-Man article) How do you create them?
I have been thinking just now that what if the guides for Astrobatics and Alien Sky are already Stage 3 eligible at this point? I will still have to improve them but I believe once I did, they should be at least Stage 3 eligible, but I am afraid that some people may attempt to dispute its ranking and say that it may miss an information, which is also a big problem on my part because I cannot look for someone who has played these 2 games, finished it completely, and then decide to pay my guide a visit and judge it

Hey
Assuming that you gave me a go signal to make these guides Stage 3 eligible, I will take that into mind and once I have finally provided 2 more major overhauls I will upgrade it to Stage 3, then, if I was able to find someone who can read these guides and tell me how it is, if it came out as having a really good review saying that it is comprehensive enough, then I will upgrade it to Stage 4 but this is a process that I won't be able to do in just days unless if I am lucky enough to find one quick.

Sorry about categorizing Dragon Slayer IV – I didn't see the cat on the redirect until afterwards, and then I edit conflicted with you trying to take it out. :P Also, I'll check on that GIMP script tonight. Couldn't Castle Excellent/Walkthrough use template:scrolling map for its page now? Having that giant sprite doesn't seem like it is very helpful. Trig - 21:12, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

:Since you asked nicely, I have removed your block.  It will expire one hour from now.  However, if you give any of the sysops any reason to block you, such as not listening to their instructions, or spamming their talk page with useless information, I will not undo the block again.  You only get one chance.  Don't disturb other users unless it's necessary, and don't contribute content unless its absolutely relevant to the guide you are contributing to.  Ultimately, the one who will decide whether you get to edit or not is you.  Hundreds of other users have no problem following the directions, so it's not impossible.  Good luck.  <span style="color:red">Pro</span><span style="color:grey">cyon</span> 04:22, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Fist of the North Star buttons
Hey. Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you did on the Mighty Bomb Jack page. I recently discovered it while trying to make a full game map. All I came for was the images of all the rooms so I could layer them together in a GIMP project... but then I noticed that crazy shortcut from 5 to 11! Turns out it saves time in speedruns compared to warping between the Palace Rooms. It helped me recently get World Record!

Hi, I was wondering about these buttons: Atomis Atomis Atomis Atomis Atomis. Are these only ever going to be used on the Fist of the North Star (arcade) guide? Should they be replaced by normal control images or put into a control template? Hey, I don't understand the series nav for Hokuto no Ken. Where would the new FotNS game go? It's for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, if that helps. : Ugh, that is... that is just ugly... I'm not sure to be honest with you, the whole thing could stand to be touched up.  The new game definitely is a combo of FotNS and DW.  So I really don't know how to classify it.  Frankly, that whole template is hardly divided up well, so if you just threw it on at the end of the first list, I don't think anyone would care or complain.  Probably the break down on Wikipedia would be the best way to reorganize the template.  <span style="color:red">Pro</span><span style="color:grey">cyon</span> 19:14, 17 October 2010 (CDT)

I know he's doing a good job; I just wanted to make sure he's aware of a good argument to do 4-6 before 4-5. When writing a walkthrough, it makes the most sense to put everything in a logical order. Putting 4-5 before 4-6 will let everyone think 4-5 is a more logical level to do before 4-6. SMB3 fan 16:07, 28 December 2010 (CST)

Yeah I actually just got my Famiclone today (eventually I will get a Famicom proper when money allows) along with a single game, Musashi no Ken. First thing I went and watched a speed run to see what I was getting into, next check for guides if I would even need one. Ding Ding Ding, none anywhere so I decided I'd finally give a guide a whirl and this seemed like the best place so here I am. I will probably make a guide for every Famicom game I get that doesn't have one here as time permits. Hopefully I'll learn the ropes soon enough so as not to break any faux pas that might roam around here 'u'

Sourcing[edit]

I'm looking to convert a lot of screenshots and you're responsible for a lot of em. Do you remember if you captured any of the screenshots below? If not, remember where they came from? I would share more, but can only generate 500 at a time!

Much thanks! Trig - 06:20, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi Trig Jegman (talk · contribs). Procyon 03:01, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Maybe to put this another way, are there any significant examples you can think of where you didn't self capture them? Trig - 04:17, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the Thanks[edit]

Hey Procyon,

I need some guidance[edit]

Here are some samples of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRzhucERGqE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7X_VzuQG14

The problem with these missions is that they really can't be described anymore with text + picture, while these games have predictable pacing as what I mentioned in its Walkthrough page, this is a roadblock that I feel like its unnecessary to break through

I am really sorry for the inconvenience Procyon, I have mentioned you on Discord about this but it seems that you are already not active in there, thank you. Stormshadow429 (talk) 07:24, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Make Betterer[edit]

Couldn't Castle Excellent/Walkthrough use template:scrolling map for its page now? Having that giant sprite doesn't seem like it is very helpful. Trig - 21:12, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I didn't realize that the file name was repurposed. I went ahead and fixed it without the scrolling map part. Not sure scrolling map would be very effective there, especially considering it's in a spoiler collapse. Could be a good idea, I'm not sure. Procyon 00:51, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Regardless, better have a usable map than a not-usable map. Thanks for the change. Trig - 02:12, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Question[edit]

Hi i was wondering, would you prefer when writing an article (e.g. enemies guide), if i had to make a quick change and I didn’t have the time to go through an entire thing at once, would you prefer me to initially either list them as headers that are empty underneath or list them in dots points (in case) and then expand on them when i have the chance? Thank you Sclera1 (talk) 06:28, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Kikai[edit]

Couldn't see what the page contained but I found some things that *might* have been the game?

Maybe this helps find if this was a legitimate game or not. Worst to worst, maybe we don't have one of these games and it can be added instead. Trig - 02:24, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

I appreciate you digging in to see if there was any real world examples of a game named Kikai. None of these seem to relate to the content that the user added, so it's difficult to determine whether the user's content was based on a real game in development, or more of a fantasy wish-list game. I'm not going to worry much about it though. Procyon 17:45, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

TY for work on the Mighty Bomb Jack page[edit]

I was hoping you could tell me where you found that trick. Seems crazy to think someone could discover it by accident. Did you do a code disassembly or was it in some sort of Nintendo Power or old school strategy guide? SpaceColonizer (talk) 19:33, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

That information was sourced from a Japanese guide. I don't recall which one, it was a long time ago. Procyon 00:55, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
