Controls

  • Joystick: Use the 8-way joystick to direct Huey the Blue Dragon (or Siria the Red Dragon if you are player 2) around the screen. As with Amul from Dragon Spirit (along with Apollo from Phelios, and the ships from Dangerous Seed), they are always moving forward, but can direct them anywhere.
  • Firing Button: Use this button to make Huey (or Siria if you're player 2) spit flames at the air-based enemies. If they have two (or three) heads, they will spit flames simultaneously. And if you wait for a few seconds, Huey and Siria will charge their flames, then spit them when you press this button.
  • Bomb Button: Use this button to make Huey (or Siria if you're player 2) drop bombs on the ground-based enemies. If they have two or three heads, they will drop bombs simultaneously. And if you are pressing both the buttons if they have two (or three) heads, they'll fire and bomb simultaneously.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin the game as player 1 or player 2.

Huey and Siria

These two human princes are the protagonists of the game. At the start of the game, they hold their sacred saber up to the sky (much like Amul did in the original Dragon Spirit), which gets struck by flash of lightning, and transforms them into the blue and red dragons you see on the right; they can take up to four hits before dying (which depends upon what the arcade operator has set the "LIFE" setting in the options menu to), and have up to three heads. They will also receive one extra life at 100,000 points by default.

Powerups

Red Egg: When Huey or Siria drops a bomb on one of these, a red orb with the Star of David on it (), will fly out of it towards them; when either of them collects three of them, they will be upgraded to Level-2 flames. When either of them collects three more of these, when they already have Level-2 flames, they will be upgraded to Level-3 flames - but if either of them should be hit when they have Level-3 flames, they will be reduced back to Level-2 flames - and if they should ever be hit when they have Level-2 flames, they will be reduced to Level-1 flames, (much like Amul in original Dragon Spirit).

Blue Egg: When Huey or Siria drops a bomb on one of these a blue orb with a (non-Barbadian) trident on it () will fly out of it towards them; when either of them collects it, they will grow another head. When either of them collects a second one of these orbs when they already have two heads, they will grow a third head on the right side of their second one - but if either of them should be hit when they have multiple heads, they will lose one of them.

Orange Egg: When Huey or Siria drops a bomb on one of these, an orange orb with a claw print on it () will fly out of it towards them; when either of them collects it they will turn orange and gain the ability to spit five spreading flames from their mouths for a short period of time (similar to Wide Fire).

Green Egg: When Huey or Siria drops a bomb upon one of these a green orb with a wingprint on it () will fly out of it towards them; when either of them collects it, they will turn green, and gain the ability to spit flames from their mouths at "cutting angles" for a short period of time (new for this game).

Black Egg: When Huey or Siria drops a bomb on one of these a black orb with a lightning bolt on it () will fly out of it towards them; when either of them collects it, they will turn black and gain the ability to spit sparks from their mouth for short periods of time (like Green Orbs, also new for this game).

Silver Egg: When Huey or Siria drops a bomb on one of these, a silver orb with a crescent moon on it () will fly out of it towards them; when either of them collects it they will turn silver and and gain the ability to spit flames that home in on air-based enemies for short period of time (like Homing Fire).

Small Dragon: When Huey or Siria collects one of these orbs, they will shrink in size - but if they ever take a hit, they will return to their normal sizes.

Heart: When Huey or Siria collects one of these orbs, one lost "life" rectangle in the bottom-left (or bottom-right) corner of the screen will be restored.

Power Wing: When Huey or Siria collects one of these orbs, they'll become temporarily invulnerable; any air-based enemies flying into them will die.

Jewel: When Huey or Siria collects one of these orbs it will add 1000 extra points to their score; this is 900 more than the Dia from the original game.

Anti: If Huey and Siria should ever see one of these orbs, they should avoid touching it at all costs; collecting them counts as a hit (like Power Down).
