Too Much Info

Is the information beneath the table of contents actually needed for this page? It's already covered on other pages isn't it?Sims2Guy 22:35, 5 October 2007 (CDT)

That's what the subpage tag is for at the top. Once the info is moved to another page, remove it from here. If you move the info to another page, be sure to mention where you got the info in your edit summary. -- Prod (Talk) 22:55, 5 October 2007 (CDT)
So I can get rid of the info at the bottom. Most of the info in there has already been covered in the subpages and if it hasn't, it will when this section of the guide has been completed.Sims2Guy 23:14, 5 October 2007 (CDT)
Go for it. -- Prod (Talk) 23:18, 5 October 2007 (CDT)

Okay, I've got rid of the information and summarised it. Does the tag at the top go away by itself or does it have to be removed maunually?Sims2Guy 23:31, 5 October 2007 (CDT)

They need to be removed manually; you can remove both if you want. --DrBob    06:26, 6 October 2007 (CDT)

Completion Stage

When it says 'Guides at Completion Stage 1', is it counting it for the whole game or just the expansion pack?Sims2Guy 20:16, 6 October 2007 (CDT)

Just the expansion pack walkthrough. However, with a game like The Sims which has no "walkthrough", you need a lot of the basic info pages completed for this to get to cs 4. -- Prod (Talk) 21:44, 6 October 2007 (CDT)
Okay. So what stage would this guide be up to when I complete the New Objects page?Sims2Guy 00:30, 7 October 2007 (CDT)
Whatever you think is right. 2 means Maturing; 3 means Fairly thorough. -- Prod (Talk) 09:20, 7 October 2007 (CDT)
In that case I'd give it a 2 or maybe a 3 as this guide is nearing completion. But I'd like another opinion on what stage this guide should be marked as up to.Sims2Guy 03:55, 10 October 2007 (CDT)
The num category is highly subjective, so put whatever you feel like. If someone disagrees, they can change it themselves. The num is mainly for the "walkthrough" sections, so if most of the info about how to play the game is there, 3 should be fine. Completely up to you. -- Prod (Talk) 14:16, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

Right, thanks, I've put it at CS2. When I've completed the New Objects page, I'll change it to 3. When I've added enough images, I'll put it at 4.Sims2Guy 01:31, 12 October 2007 (CDT)

Walkthrough and Getting Started

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to put in these sections.Sims2Guy 19:28, 19 October 2007 (CDT)

Off the top of my head, a little guide around how to get started playing would seem to fit well. Something about the interface and general game mechanics and objectives. --DrBob    20:07, 19 October 2007 (CDT)
Okay I've done the getting started page. I'd like someone to check it and tell me whether it's suitable. I'd also like ideas as to what to put in the walkthrough section. Can someone give me any ideas.Sims2Guy 02:11, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
It looks good. For the walkthrough section, I'd suggest a simple walkthrough on how to build a house, set up sims and play the game for a little while; just something to help people get the hang of it. --DrBob (talk) 06:09, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
The other alternative is just a "cover page" with an image from the game and a few links to where the user would begin with the new stuff in the game. -- Prod (Talk) 10:04, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
Building a house and setting up sims has been done since The Sims 2 so I don't think that's an idea for an expansion pack walkthrough. As for the new stuff. What would be the difference between that and the getting started section.Sims2Guy 19:03, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
Only the Walkthrough page is mandatory. You can probably move /Getting Started to /Walkthrough and point the {{Continue Nav}} to a better place. Getting Started is for people who have never played the game before (usually controls and gameplay mechanics go under there). Since this is an expansion, the Getting Started link is only really useful for the standard game. -- Prod (Talk) 20:15, 21 October 2007 (CDT)

Completion Stage 4

This guide is almost ready to be placed in completion stage 4. However a few things need to happen first.

  1. Each subpage needs a footer nav
  2. The windows part of the systems requirements should be edited
  3. A walkthrough is needed.

For the walkthrough I have a few ideas.

  • Turn it into a redirect page to The Sims 2 Walkthrough
  • Pick a specific goal in the expansion pack and have a step-by-step process on how to acheive it.
  • Turn it into a summary page for all the pages in this guide.
  • Get rid of links to the walkthrough altogether.

I hope to get some feedback for my ideas.Sims2Guy 03:47, 20 February 2008 (CST)
