Stage 11[edit]

MQ Stage 11A.png
MQ Stage 11B.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen, three Gorillas (written in Katakana as ゴリラズ) or Wani (written in Katakana as ワニ) will appear in front of them as the Katakana text of Sutēji 11, noruma 3 (ステージ11, ノルマ3) appears at the top of the screen; the three-script text Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 3 (第1問, 残りノルマ3) will then appear at the top of the screen, before the first question and four possible answers appear and the time meters start emptying. If you answer a question correctly, Scott (or Stanley) will repeatedly whip (or punch) one of the Gorillas or Wani, to make him explode - but if you answer any question incorrectly, one of the Gorillas or Wani will suddenly go for Scott (or Stanley). Once you answer three questions correctly, that Katakana text of Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen and Scott and Stanley will proceed on to the twelfth stage.

Stage 12[edit]

MQ Stage 12A.png
MQ Stage 12B.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen, four more Lions (or Zougame) will appear in front of them as the Katakana text of Sutēji 12, noruma 4 (ステージ12, ノルマ4) appears at the top of the screen; that three-script text Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 4 (第1問, 残りノルマ4) will then appear at the top of the screen before the first question (and four possible answers) appear and the time meters start emptying. If you answer a question correctly Scott (or Stanley) will repeatedly whip (or punch) one of the Lions (or Zougame) to make him explode - but if you answer a question incorrectly, one of the Lions or Zougame will suddenly go for Scott (or Stanley). Once you answer three questions correctly, that Katakana text of Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen and Scott and Stanley will proceed on to the thirteenth stage; if you selected the northern path at the start of this area, the stage will be a Keisan (計算) time trial, in which you will have to answer as many mathematics-related questions as you can in one minute.

Stage 13[edit]

MQ Stage 13A.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen, they will start climbing a rock face (if you selected the western path at the start of this area), as that Katakana text of Sutēji 13, noruma 5 (ステージ13, ノルマ5) appears at the top of the screen; that three-script text of Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 5 (第1問, 残りノルマ5) will then appear at the top of the screen before the first question (and four possible answers) appear and the time meters start emptying. If you answer any question correctly, a boulder will fall down from the top of the screen and narrowly miss Scott (or Stanley) - but, if you answer any question incorrectly a boulder will fall down from the top of the screen and land on Scott (or Stanley), forcing them back down the rock face. Once you answer five questions correctly, the Katakana text Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen as Scott and Stanley reach the top of the rock face (which is of infinite height; the top will only be written into the game program after a fifth question has been answered correctly).

MQ Stage 13B.png

However, if you selected that northern path at the start of this area, the Katakana/Kanji text Sutēji 13, Keisan taimutoriaru (ステージ13, 計算タイムトライアル) will appear at the top of the screen; you will then have to use the first, second, and third Answer Buttons to answer as many mathematical questions as you can in one minute. Once the timer has run out, you will be treated to a cutscene like the first part of the one shown at the end of the tenth stage - remember that if the first player has the higher score at this point, Scott will be grinning and Stanley will be scowling, and vice-versa if the second player has the higher score. However, the number that originally could have been as high as 3 on that occasion can now only be as high as 2 on this occasion.

Stage 14[edit]

MQ Stage 14A.png
MQ Stage 14B.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen four (on the western path) or two (on the northern path) more Zako-Hei will appear in front of them as the Katakana text of Sutēji 14, noruma 4/2 (ステージ14, ノルマ4/2) appears at the top of the screen; that three-script text of Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 4/2 (第1問, 残りノルマ4/2) will then appear at the top of the screen before the first question and four possible answers appear and the time meters start emptying. If you answer any question correctly, Scott (or Stanley) will repeatedly whip (or punch) one of the Zako-Hei to make him explode - but if you answer a question incorrectly, one of the Zako-Hei will throw his machete at Scott (or Stanley). Once you have answered four or two questions correctly, the Katakana text Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen and you will then be treated to what is now the fifth cutscene:

「この大いなる洞窟の奥に、宝冠があるはずです」
('Kono ōinaru dōkutsu no oku ni, hōkan ga aru hazudesu')
MQ Stage 14 Cutscene 1.png

「よし! 中に入ろう」
('Yoshi! Chū ni nyūrō')

Stage 15[edit]

MQ Stage 15.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen, four more Zako-Hei will appear in front of them, as that Katakana text of Sutēji 15, noruma 4 (ステージ15, ノルマ4) appears at the top of the screen; that three-script text Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 4/2 (第1問, 残りノルマ4) will then appear at the top of the screen, before the first question (and four possible answers) appear and the two time meters start emptying. If you answer any question correctly, Scott (or Stanley) will repeatedly whip (or punch) one of the Zako-Hei to make him explode - but if you answer any question incorrectly, one of the Zako-Hei will throw his machete at Scott (or Stanley). Once you have answered four or two questions correctly, the Katakana text Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen as the screen cuts to a shot of another temple hall and Scott and Stanley will proceed to the sixteenth stage.

Stage 16[edit]

MQ Stage 2.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen, the three-script texts Sutēji 16, e no nan dai, noruma 5 (ステージ16, 絵の何題, ノルマ5) will appear up at the top of the screen; the Kanji/Hiragana text of Tsugi no e ha nanidesu ka? (次の絵は何ですか?) will then appear there as the first question (and its four possible answers) appear, and the time meters start emptying. The questions will also have sliding pictures above them - and once you have answered five questions correctly, the Katakana text Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen, and Scott and Stanley will go onto that seventeenth stage. Also, as on Stage 2, if you answered every question on this stage correctly, you will be treated to the following cutscene:

3択化次のステージが3択になります
(3-taku-ka tsugi no sutēji ga 3-taku ni narimasu)
Bakuretsu Quiz Ma-Q Dai-Bouken intro 2.png

The screen will then cut back to a shot of the temple hall, as that Kanji/Hiragana text Shinro wo erande kudasai (進路を選んでください) appears at the top of the screen; you will then have ten seconds to decide which path you want to take, by pressing its number's Answer Button (which are indicated by the four Kanji, Katakana and English texts of Eiga 映画, Ongaku 音楽, TV and Nonsekushon ノンセクション respectively). An orange square will also flash up on the right side of the screen once you have pressed any Answer Button to confirm your choice - and there will be no red one below it on this occasion.

Stage 17[edit]

MQ Stage 17A.png
MQ Stage 17C.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen, the Kanji text Taku -3 (択-3) will start flashing up above their life-hearts, if they had answered every question upon the previous stage correctly as six Kumo (written in Katakana as クモ) or Sasori (written in Katakana as サソリ) appear in front of them; that Katakana text of Sutēji 17, noruma 6 (ステージ17, ノルマ6) will then appear at the top of the screen. The three-script text of Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 6 (第1問, 残りノルマ6) will then appear at the top of the screen, before the first question (and three possible answers) appear and the time meters start emptying - and, if you answer any question correctly, Scott (or Stanley) will repeatedly whip (or punch) one of the Kumo (or Sasori), to make him explode. But if you answer any question incorrectly, one of the Kumo (or Sasori) will suddenly go for Scott (or Stanley); once you have answered six questions correctly, that Katakana text Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen, and Scott and Stanley will go on to the eighteenth stage. The screen will then cut back to the temple hall, as that Kanji/Hiragana text Shinro wo erande kudasai (進路を選んでください) appears at the top of the screen - and you'll then have ten seconds to decide which path you want to take by pressing its number's Answer Button (indicated by the four Kanji, English and Katakana texts SF eiga SF映画, Yakyū 野球, Seibutsu 生物 and Nonsekushon ノンセクション respectively, SF standing for Science Fiction). A lime-green square will also flash up above that orange one on the right screen side, once you have pressed any Answer Button to confirm your choice.

Stage 18[edit]

MQ Stage 18A.png
MQ Stage 18C.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared at the bottom of the screen, four Babito (written in Hiragana as ばびっと) will either appear in front of them (on paths 1 and 2), or start chasing after them (on paths 3 and 4); the Katakana text Sutēji 18, noruma 4/5 (ステージ18, ノルマ4/5) will then appear at the top of the screen. The three-script text Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 4/5 (第1問, 残りノルマ4/5) will then appear at the top of the screen before the first question (and four possible answers) appear and the time meters start emptying - and if you answer any question correctly upon the first and second paths, Scott (or Stanley) will repeatedly whip (or punch) one of the Babito to make him explode. But if you answer any question incorrectly on any path one (or all) of the Babito will suddenly go for Scott (or Stanley); once you have answered four or five questions correctly, the Katakana text Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen, and Scott and Stanley will jump into a pool of water (which will only be written into the game for that occasion) on the third and fourth paths. The screen will then cut back to a shot of the temple hall, as the Kanji/Hiragana text Shinro wo erande kudasai (進路を選んでください) appears at the top of the screen; you'll then have ten seconds to decide which of the paths you want to take, by pressing its number's Answer Button (which are indicated by the four Kanji and Katakana texts Nihon eiga 日本映画, Ten sasō chikyū 天支地球, Keizai 経済, and Nonsekushon ノンセクション respectively). A pea-green square will also flash up above that lime-green one upon the right side of the screen once you have confirmed your selection.

Stage 19[edit]

MQ Stage 19A.png
MQ Stage 19C.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared, at the bottom of the screen, five Iguanas, or three Will-O-Wisps (written in Katakana as ウィルオーウィスプス) will appear in front of them; the Katakana text Sutēji 19, noruma 5/3 (ステージ19, ノルマ5/3) will then appear at the top of the screen. The three-script text Dai 1-mon, nokori noruma 5/3 (第1問, 残りノルマ5/3) will then appear at the top of the screen, before that first question and four possible answers appear and the time meters start emptying - and, when you answer a question correctly, Scott (or Stanley) will repeatedly whip (or punch) one of the Iguanas (or Will-O-Wisps) to make him explode. But if you answer a question incorrectly, one of the Iguanas (or Will-O-Wisps) will suddenly go for Scott (or Stanley); once you've answered five or three questions correctly, the Katakana text Noruma kuria (ノルマクリア) will appear at the top of the screen and the screen will cut to a shot of the temple hall as a turquoise square appears above that pea-green one upon the right screen side. Now it is the second boss battle.

Stage 20[edit]

MQ Stage 20.png

Once Scott and Stanley have reappeared, at the bottom of the screen, this area's boss (which will be the first of three enormous four-armed statues) will appear in front of them as the Katakana text of Sutēji 20, OX taimutoriaru (ステージ20, OXタイムトライアル) appears at the top of the screen; you will then have to push the first and second Answer Buttons to answer "O" (true) or "X" (false) to as many questions as you can in one minute. Once the timer has run out, the statue will begin to explode (causing the yellow jewel to fall out of its forehead), as Guide Kakari runs in from the right side of the screen and speaks the Hiragana/Kanji text Sā, nigemashō! (さあ、逃げましょう!), then runs off the left side of the screen with Scott as Stanley runs off the right side - and you will now be treated to the following cutscene, the first part of which will be identical to the one that you were shown at the end of the tenth stage:

スコットラック1/2/3増加1Pのラックが1/2/3増窺えます
(Sukottorakku 1/2/3 zōka 1P no rakku ga 1/2/3 zō ukagaemasu)
MQ Stage 10 Cutscene 1A.png

But if the second player has the highest score at this point, that first part of text and the picture below will look like this (note that Stanley is grinning in it):

スタンリーラック1/2/3増加2Pのラックが1/2/3増窺えます
(Sutanrīrakku 1/2/3 zōka 2P no rakku ga 1/2/3 zō ukagaemasu)

「あの山の上のいにしえの塔に宝玉があるそうです」
('Ano yamanoue no inishie no tō ni hōgyoku ga aru sōdesu')
MQ Stage 20 Cutscene 2.png

The screen will then cut to a shot of the overworld map as the Hiragana/Kanji text of Shinro wo erande kudasai (進路を選んでください) appears at the top of the screen; you will now have ten seconds to choose either the western path by pressing the first Answer Button (indicated by the Kanji/Katakana text Mitaku mondai rongukōsu 三択問題ロングコース), or the southern path by pressing that second Answer Button (which is indicated by the Kanji/Katakana text Yontakumondai shōtokōsu 四択問題ショートコース). If you choose the former path, the questions for the next six stages will only have three possible answers (as opposed to four) - but you'll have to play two extra stages as a result of doing so, given that there are only four stages on the southern path.
