The Deadmines is an instance located in Westfall (on the Eastern Continent). Inside the instance, Defias and goblins alike plot their attack on Stormwind. The Defias are led by a man named Edwin van Cleef who is speculated to have been part of a secret order that once existed in Stormwind. The Deadmines is straight-forward instance that ends with a showdown on a pirate-ship.

This is a channel instance, meaning no matter which way you go, you are either going back towards the entrance, or closer to the end. This also means that without using any special tricks, there is no way to "skip" any parts of it.

You will face either 5 or 6 bosses on a full run of this instance, since one boss is basically optional.

In order of confrontation, these bosses are:

Rhank'Zor - The Ogre.

You actually need to travel a fair distance to reach him, and the items he drop are usually not worth running the instance for.

How it Goes[edit]

First you start off in some tunnel, with a bunch of level 18s and 19s around, and every once in a while you will meet up with 1, 2, or 3 patrolling 19-20 elites. These are called patrols or pats. Eventually, you will enter a room with a large fat ogre in the venter (guarding a door) and 2 19 elites on either die of the door. Wait until he goes a little aways from the door then attack (with ranged hopefully), and he will come to you. Even though he is only 20 (not sure) elite, he is a boss so is quite hard. After that you can just pick off the other two. Im not sure about the next part, but either that or the next next part is where you can see a bunch of goblins standing around. However, looks can be deceiving, for although they are about a third of the height of a human, they are 20 and 21 elites. You will also meet up with Sneed's Shredder that you can skip if you really want to (he goes up some ramp in a loop up and down, and you can run past while he's up). If you decide to confront him, then you will fight someone with similar health as Rhank' Zor, but a bit more powerful. After you defeat him, it's not over though! Sneed himself will come out from the corpses of the shredder and start attacking the weakest person (all mages, priests, and warlocks back off when the shredder is nearly dead). He is about twice as hard as the average goblin. Then I'm pretty sure the next part leads into the Goblin Foundry, arguably the hardest portion of the deadmines, but if you take on the goblins one at a time you will survive. Don't jump down. After you defeat everyone including a largish goblin mini-boss, you should run back up the large ramp and kill the patrol that always comes down after you open the door (?). You will go in another tunnel, and then come face to face with a large locked door with a large cannon next to it. If you have a rogue in your party i recommend he unlock the door. If not, run back about halfway of the tunnel and then go in a very small side tunnel. There is some "Defias Gunpowder" in a sack. Use it on the cannon and KABOOM. A bunch of guys get alerted to your position. Back off until they leave. then fight through the first few. If you really want the exp, then you can fight the large amount of pirates 19 and 20 elites (with level 15 parrots), but other wise, go to your left off the deck and swim to the large grey island at the end of the walkway. Then someone (your tank hopefully) should aggro Mr Smite. He's pretty tough. Just fight him, and make sure you don't get aggroed by him or his shadow guards if your not the tank. Healers, only heal the tank. Not so much that you get aggroed however. After that you go up the onto the deck. Go right, and fight through the pirates. You should see a wooden ramp up. Go up and fight through these guys as well. Then go all the way up onto the upper deck. I would recommend fighting the small patrol that has the "First Mate" or else you could be fighting Van Cleft as well as a level 21 elite. Finally you fight VC. Fight him similarly to Mr Smite. After that go to the left of his house (opposite where you came from) and jump down. You should see a Murloc called Cookie, hes the cook. He drops an awesome wand so go kill him. After that, you can follow the bridge to the building and then out of the instance. Yay! now hearth stone back to where ever you set it at.
