Joy Joy is a small shop south of Osaka. It is named after a very Tetris-like puzzle game for the NeoGeo known as Puzzled, or Joy Joy Kid in Japan. In both versions, it is the easiest card fighting venue, and a very good place to build a preliminary deck. There are a few points of interest here:

  • Taka (highlighted in yellow) offers a standard 2000 hit point battle, with the chance to receive three cards for a victory.
  • Kid (highlighted in green), whom you must battle in order to win the Joy Joy coin, conducts a 3000 hit point battle and a five card reward for success.
  • Lad, standing to the right of Kid, runs a card exchange shop. He will typically carry three C rank cards and one B rank card. To obtain one of the cards he has, you must trade in three cards of the same rank or better. He can only trade for a card once, and his entire list of cards changes after every five battles that you conduct.
  • The upper-left corner of the shop has a Neo Carnival machine, from which cards can be obtained in the SNK version (it is broken in the Capcom version). Only one card can be picked from the machine at a time. If you want to pick another, you must first battle someone.

Finally, there is a bulletin board in the back. If you interact with it, it will share random tips about the game. There are actually two available spaces to read and each space has a unique set of tips.

After beating the game[edit]

The only change which takes place after you have beaten the game, is the appearance of Yosiki who may be seated at the lower table. Yosiki runs a special 3000 hit point, 5 card reward battle, where his deck is a mirror image of your own, making him particularly challenging to beat since you're so evenly matched. Beat him once to obtain a rare card. After that, the only character cards he awards after battle are Capcom characters.
