When Meikyuu Shima was localized outside Japan, the order of islands was changed, several were moved to later lands, and some islands were completely removed or replaced by newer easier islands. Most islands were also simplified by reducing the number of enemies. The Western special game consists of ten islands more than the original Japanese counterpart.
