Ace Combat is a series of semi-realistic flight simulators made by Namco and, currently, Bandai-Namco. The aircraft in this series are unaffeceted by things like weather, and the pilot is unaffected by G-forces and other variables. Aircraft have many missiles and bombs, far more than a usual aircraft. To compensate, missiles do not destroy every target in a single hit, nor are they track targets as tenaciously as in real life.

The world of Ace Combat is often called "Strangereal", and is composed of several nations - the most notable of which are the Belkan Federation, the Osean Federation, the Union of Yuktobanian Republics, the Republic of Ustio, the Kingdom of Sapin, and the twin republics of Aurelia and Leasath.
