FF7 Magic Materia templates

I think Magic Materia3, 4 and 5 are fine as tables. They are tabulated data and should be arranged the way they are. -- Prod 18:02, 5 October 2006 (CDT)

You're right. I think I was getting a little too excited when tagging those for detabulation. :-P What does need to be done to them is some work making them look a little more like other table templates. --DrBob (Talk) 01:07, 6 October 2006 (CDT)
Such as? -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 10:39, 6 October 2006 (CDT)
Such as the infobox. For one thing, they need borders. --DrBob (Talk) 11:35, 6 October 2006 (CDT)
How's this? -- Prod 12:11, 6 October 2006 (CDT)
Better. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 14:10, 6 October 2006 (CDT)

Vandalism!

I am urgently reporting to you about vandilism I have discovered. The vandalism was perpetrated by Fuckyoubitch. It includes the use of slang and inappropriate language on pages in the MapleStory article. 0-172 18:27, 7 October 2006 (CDT)

I was eating, so I didn't notice it straight away, but Prod has restored the page, and I've permanently blocked the user. Thanks for telling me. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 13:41, 7 October 2006 (CDT)

My Guide

Hi Dr Bob. I've been working on many guides but have finally finished one. Can you please check it and see if I've missed anything out, because I really want it to be completed and show everything. BBA Guide Thanks.

I was watching this guide's progress as you were doing it (I was bored), and I'm wondering why you decided to remove the Template:Tl references on some of the pages? All pages in a guide should reference Template:Tl, but only the main one should have the "num" parameter. Other than that (which I've fixed), it looks good, although you haven't finished the classes page yet. :-P --DrBob (Talk) 08:38, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
Well it said "Return back to Big Brain Academy" so I thought that would be enough. I'll add the navigation back in then. I'll finish off the Classes page now. I've done the ACWW calendar. Its now all "4" as you would say, completed (after I've done Classes!) Phoenix499 08:42, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
One of the advantages of having the Template:Tl is that people can use it to view that guide's TOC on any page, just by either clicking the "Table of Contents" link, or pressing the "Show" link to expand the TOC on that page. Good work! :-) --DrBob (Talk) 08:49, 8 October 2006 (CDT)

Strategy Wiki National Pokedex

Oops, sorry. You have a point there. Whats going to be done about it? 0-17219:20, 8 October 2006 (CDT)

I've deleted it for the moment, but it can soon be put back if discussion in community issues is positive. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 14:27, 8 October 2006 (CDT)

Alignment

I noticed you helped me out with my Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee Guide and was wondering if it was possible to have the three images line up on this page? Thanks, --Kyron 12:41, 9 October 2006 (CDT)

Done, to the best of my ability in 5 minutes. :-P --DrBob (Talk) 13:14, 9 October 2006 (CDT)

Request for a bot?

Hi DrBob, I have a big favor to ask of you. I decided to create the Fighter Portraits category because the number of portraits are going to grow and it just seemed to make sense. But now all of the other portraits are in the Characters category. Is it possible for you to script a bot that could recategorize all of the existing portraits to the new category? They all start with "Portrait_" so it should be easy to script. If it's not possible, I'll go ahead and start doing it manually, but I thought since you had some bot scripting experience, I would ask you about it first. Thanks, whether you can help or not. Procyon 13:50, 10 October 2006 (CDT)

Ho ho. It's good that you ask this now, because I've just got my bot working again. It'll take me a little time to find some free time and get it all set up, but I'll do it. :-) In fact, I'll go one better, and add them to Category:Fighter portraits. (Proper capitalisation.) :-P --DrBob (Talk) 15:14, 10 October 2006 (CDT)
LOL, touché. Sorry about the Camel Case. Again, it's the programmer in me. Which leads to my embaressment that I don't know how to script a wikipedia bot. Do you have any site that you could point me to in order to learn? Thanks very much, and thank you as always for your assistance. Procyon 15:58, 10 October 2006 (CDT)
I can't think of anywhere, really, unless you want to root around on Wikipedia, but all the bots there which have source available are in Perl, and I can't understand it (my Perl knowledge is severely limited). Mine's written in PHP, and the source is available here. It's a bit of a mess at the moment, but it might be useful to you. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 16:43, 10 October 2006 (CDT)

Wikify

How are we supposed to wikify ASCII diagrams? -- Prod 11:35, 12 October 2006 (CDT)

Make nice diagrams of them. We're no longer in the stone age. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 11:56, 12 October 2006 (CDT)
Screenshots are easy enough to get. F12 with MAME, Ctrl-P with VirtuaNES... Procyon 13:38, 12 October 2006 (CDT)

Layout change suggestion, would like your input

On the project boxes (stub, needscat, ect.), if you could give your input here it would be appreciated. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 10:25, 15 October 2006 (CDT)

FF1

I THINK I got everything from wikibooks here. I just went to the category and grabbed everything that appeared to match naming convention, I'm going to poke through and find the things that were missed, but all those pages probably need to be fixed to be Final Fantasy/Sub page or whatever. But I figured I might as well do it before Minun convinced them to delete it. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 10:45, 15 October 2006 (CDT)

Good good. I think we should consider banning Minun for a while, since he's being so disruptive and downright rude. --DrBob (Talk) 11:12, 15 October 2006 (CDT)
I think that would be a little harsh, nothing he has done is really outright vandalism, but if that does occur then by all means. I think it'd be jumping the gun if we did so, and I think we'd be the more mature one if we didn't. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 11:16, 15 October 2006 (CDT)

Header organization

We've been kinda undoing each others work here and there with respect to the order of templates at the top of the page. Personally, I add the AGN first, and then worry about the other tags, but I don't really care one way or the other. With the discussions on Community Issues, it would probably be better below the wip/stub/etc tags, and I'll try to do it your way. However, I feel the Template:Tl should go below the AGN. It's more part of the content, whereas the AGN is more of a header. I also think it looks better below. -- Prod 15:45, 17 October 2006 (CDT)

OK. I was putting the series disambig up at the top because that's what Wikipedia does, although it's not a perfectly analogous situation, so I'm fine with going along with your way of doing it. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 15:48, 17 October 2006 (CDT)

Category:Pages now merged into other pages

Sorry I'm making such a mess on your talk page >.>. What's supposed to be done with those? On wikipedia they keep all their redirects, no matter how useless. But here useless redirects are deleted. Merging histories (i'm assuming like the transwiki process) would make a mess, but I would assume it has to be done. -- Prod 16:47, 17 October 2006 (CDT)

I've got no idea, and ianal. You'd probably want to talk to Garrett (and apologise to him from me for forwarding so much stuff to him :-P ). --DrBob (Talk) 16:50, 17 October 2006 (CDT)

Bot

Your bot has decided to categorize tons of stuff as a fighter portrait... -- Prod 14:37, 18 October 2006 (CDT)

Ack. I leave it for half an hour to eat tea, and it goes crazy. Leave them; I'll sort it out. The bot is now grounded; sorry for the inconvenience. >:-( --DrBob (Talk) 15:13, 18 October 2006 (CDT)
Poor bot. Just don't send him to his room if he's got a TV in there, its counter productive :P -- Prod 15:41, 18 October 2006 (CDT)
Nah, nothing that bad. I just rearranged some of his innards. :-D --DrBob (Talk) 15:46, 18 October 2006 (CDT)

Delete

As you have probably noticed, I've been made a sysop :D. I'm kinda new to this so I'm not really sure how some of this works. For example, how do you get that text when deleting (Content was xxx and only contributor was xxx). -- Prod 10:34, 19 October 2006 (CDT)

It's automatically put in the reason box by MediaWiki if appropriate (e.g. if there is little content). Otherwise, the reason box is left blank, and you should fill it out yourself. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 10:38, 19 October 2006 (CDT)

Halo 2 image

Isn't the watermark on Image:Halo_2_Magnum.jpg trademark infringement or something similar? -- Prod (Talk) 09:00, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

Don't ask me, IANAL. But it would be better to be safe than sorry. --DrBob (Talk) 10:52, 20 October 2006 (CDT)
Just crop it out, they don't own a screenshot from a game. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 14:44, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

Cleanup

Why add the descriptions to those templates twice? It seems to me that it defeats the purpose. The <div>s or <p> tags can still be moved in a user CSS. --inarius(T) 17:13, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

As I mentioned in community issues, I think it would still be appropriate to have the markup for the main header boxes present. For one thing, for those who use skins other than BlueCloud. They are hidden through CSS in the common CSS file, which I will presently move to the BlueCloud CSS file. --DrBob (Talk) 17:16, 20 October 2006 (CDT)
I thought what you meant was that you would move the <p> tags you placed in the Toolbox to the artocle body. Also, I don't see the problem with other skins - but I haven't tested them since my orginal Toolbox spec. --inarius(T) 17:20, 20 October 2006 (CDT)
