Walkthrough

Crime Scene

During the introductory scene, you are shown as discussion between Edgeworth and Gumshoe. You also record the following facts:

  • Crime scene: My office
  • The office key

After the first cutscene, you are introduced to the Logic button. Touch or click on the button to view the list of facts collected so far. Tap on the two facts, and on connect to identify that it is difficult for both the murderer and victim to both enter the room.

You will now need to identify The Killer's Goal.

Investigation

At the south end of the room, examine the pistol. Gumshoe identifies it as a revolver used by detectives in emergencies.

When you speak with the officer in the south-west corner, he will mention that he both sees nothing out of the ordinary, and that there is something out of the ordinary as well.

Head to the body on the right, and examine the body. Take a look at the wallet to leath that the Victim was a detective. The a look at the blood to learn that he was shot in the lower abdominal area. Look at the piles of books to learn that the murderer was looking for a file, but you will put them back later.

Use logic to link the revolver with the victim information. When you do so, Gumshoe will examine the body and determine that the revolver came from the victim.

Jacques Portsman will then arrive suddenly, being upset that his partner was murdered. After brief introductions, the team will restore the files to the original places, and you will get to examine the murder location.

There are handprints on the third shelf, hand prints and blood on the floor, and a bullet hole. Examine the bullet hole, and use the deduce command on the hole and present the crime scene notes. You will notice that the files are in the wrong order at the time of murder. After restoring the order at the time of the crime scene and setting the body in position, you will notice blood writing on the set of books to the right. Examine it to learn about the Stolen File, and to restore any mental health lost during the investigation.

Cross Examination - Jacques Portsman

Portsman will make the following statments:

  1. Detective Gumshoe. You stole Jim's gun from him and shot him dead.
  2. Further, you messed up the files to make it look like you had committed theft instead.
  3. That's when you moved Jim's body that was sitting in front of the bookshelf!
  4. But thanks to that, you didn't notice the bloody letters his body was hiding.
  5. And it will be by his final words that you will be brought to justice.

Present the stolen file to the fourth statement. After revealing that Gumshoe was written on the books as well as across the missing book, Portsman will introduce Ms. Maggey Byrde, a member of security who has another key to the office.
