The Mario RPG series is an unofficial branch of Mario games that have spawned various RPG games featuring Mario characters and the Mario universe. The first of these was Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, developed in collaboration with Square for the SNES. Later, the aesthetically unusual Paper Mario series was made, developed by Intelligent Systems for the N64, GameCube, Wii, and 3DS. Simultaneously AlphaDream has made the by the Mario & Luigi games for the Game Boy Advance, DS and 3DS, focusing on the dynamics between the two brothers.
