This page needs images of controls for the PlayStation 2 from the controller buttons category to make learning the controls easier. If a set of controller button images is available for this system, please add them. If a set of controller images isn't available, it might need to be brought up on StrategyWiki:Staff lounge.

These are the default controls for Playstation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube.

GameCube PlayStation 2 Action
A button Cross button Tap for light grapple. Hold for heavy grapple. After grappling someone, press again for a normal wrestling slam or move in different directions for different effects. Also use it for ropes, turnbuckles and for the opponent lying down or sitting down on the mat.
B button Square button Tap for light strike. Hold for heavy strike. After grappling someone, again for a grappling attack or use move in different directions for different effects. Same with ropes, turnbuckles and the opponent lying down or sitting down on the mat.
A button+B button Cross button+Square button Press both buttons for a very strong strike attack.
X button Circle button Use it to run around opponents, through the ropes or as an attack following a grapple or strike. Also use for going on turnbuckle. Let go to use the attack.
Y button Triangle button Use it to climb through ropes and throw opponents out of the ring. Also use to tag your parner.
Z button R2 button In tag team or up to three opponents against you, use it to switch focus to the opponent closest to you.
Neutral control Neutral lstick Move your hip hop wrestler around the stage.
Neutral cstick Neutral rstick Taunt and if you succeed in your momentum, use it to enter blaze mode and after grappling in front or behind the opponent, use it to release a devastating move which will take a toll on his health.
L button L1 button Avoid grapples and use it to pin the opponent if they're in danger. Also to switch from front and behind.
R button R1 button Blocking strikes and bringing a prone opponent to their feet.
Start button Start button Pause the game.
