This is a car collection mission, somewhat different than the similar Mafia mission in that you have to locate the cars yourself. The limitations of the GTA3 engine revision show through here... besides having to go back and forth between two islands without a world map, all the map blips disappear when you begin the mission, making navigation additionally difficult. If one of the cars gets damaged, you'll need to take it to the Pay 'n Spray, but the map blip directing you there won't appear until the car is seriously damaged. If you want to eliminate most of the hassle, bring the Diablo Stallion and Mafia Sentinel over from Portland and stash them in your garage before you start the mission.
