The in-game map. The triforce cursor must be moved to access a location.

The Faces of Evil takes the side-scrolling type of gameplay first introduced in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Like all other Zelda games, Link collects items and equipment during his journey. A notable change is that, instead of the original Rupees (the currency of Hyrule), Rubies are dropped by enemies. This may be because of either the different locations or just a mistake made by the developers. Either way, they are the exact same thing and used to buy more equipment/items for Link at the in-game store.

The starting position of the game is Goronu by default, but you can go anywhere with the access of the map. Certain places have to be unlocked.
