It is worth noting that Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii does not support use of the Classic Controller for gameplay. The reason behind it is that according to Ben Herman, in the beginning, ''"Nintendo initially intended for that controller to be used primarily for the Virtual Console only."''.  Thus Terminal Reality did not receive instruction on how to implement the Classic Control configuration in the game.  On an internet show called "On the Spot", a representative from Terminal Reality demoed the different types of control. One question on the show asked if it supports the Classic Controller, and the representative did not know what it was. Some say that the Wii was still new and Terminal Reality did not know about the Classic Controller.
Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii does not support use of the Classic Controller for gameplay. However, Metal Slug 1 and 2 is available on Virtual Console which you'll be able to play with the Classic Controller.
