==Arrival==
Dawn/Lucas will be waiting for you at the entrance and he will bring you to Professor Rowan's lab where you'll bump into Barry again who briefly describes Rowan and then darts off. Lucas/Dawn then takes you inside to talk to Rowan. Rowan takes a look at your pokémon and says that you have a bond with it and let's you keep it. He then gives you the pokedex.

When you leave the lab Lucas/Dawn shows you around the town, telling you that you can heal at the Pokémon Center free of charge, and you can stock up on items at the Poké Mart, though you won't be able to buy much with your meager [[File:Pokebuck.png]]3,000.

*Talk to Dawn/Lucas
*Talk to Prof. Rowan inside the large house at the entrance of town to keep your starter Pokémon and receive a Pokédex.

If you try to leave Sandgem Town immediately, Dawn/Lucas will stop you in a grassy patch just outside of Sandgem Town, and demand you say goodbye to your mom before you leave on your journey. Do so, then come back to the same spot. Dawn/Lucas will give you a Pokémon catching tutorial and 5 Poké Balls; then you can go on your way.
