It's the easiest to play with captain falcon: he's quick, so you can evade a lot of the hand's attacks. You just have to try a few times, so you can "predict" the attack a hand is going to do. Captain falcon also has a lot of attack power, so no matter how you hit the hand it allways does a lot of damage, just try to hit is as much and fast as possible.
