Tank Battalion is a multi-directional shooter arcade game that was released by Namco in 1980. It didn't make a big splash in the arcades when it was released in 1980, since it was out-shone by Namco's other classic, Pac-Man. The game was ported to the MSX 8-bit computers under its original name. It was later ported to the Japanese Famicom (with a corresponding Vs. System game) and Game Boy. Since new features like better animation and new variety (like different terrain, powerups and different types of tanks) was added, it was retitled Battle City.
