Welcome to StrategyWiki!

Hello Ceegers! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or visit the IRC channel to chat, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 07:36, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Atari games

Hi Ceegers, I saw on your user page that you have a bunch of Atari games. Could you list them here for us/me? Maybe we could use a scan of the cartridge. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 07:38, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Edit: Info moved to main page -- Ceegers (talk) 01:13, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
I linked all of the games so we can tell which ones have pages (or need their own page; some games share the same name as future games). Anyways, could you do me the biggest favor and start an effort to scan them? Photos are fine of cartridges, but getting box art digitized perfectly is something I really strive for. Far down the road: scan the manuals. I don't want to scare you off. Anything helps, really, but you re sitting on a gold mine of information. Great collection by the way. Very cool. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:26, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Changed E.T. to proper name. I'll have to check into Mega Force, as it's redirecting to a game not listed as available on Atari. The collection is due to having a dad who was into video games when he was my age :) -- Ceegers (talk) 07:39, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Made a redirect for E.T.. Is this the Mega Force cartridge you have? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:18, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes indeed, and I see somebody "made room" for it. Found the rest of the games, and started collapsible lists of games on my user page. Also got an adapter so the Atari works... now to figure out where the controllers are :-/ -- Ceegers (talk) 01:13, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah I brought up the issue with the guy who made the Star Force guide, Procyon (talk · contribs), one of our bureaucrats who reminded me of how we handle official alternative names (since Mega Force came out before the Star Force rename, the Atari 2600 game gets the main title; the other one is now Mega Force (Arcade)). Nice games list. Have you ever written a guide or collected info on games? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:40, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
I have not actually written a guide, though I have considered doing so, but usually decide against it as the games I feel like doing so for are usually old games that have all sorts of guides out there by now. But I like the idea of this being 1 collaborated guide. As far as collecting info on games... well depends on what you mean I suppose. For example, playing Kirby Super Star, I once went through and figured out how much damage almost all the different abilities' attacks cause. Occasionally I'll do stuff like that. -- Ceegers (talk) 18:53, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Guide page history

Hi Ceegers. I saw the note you put in one of the Portal Walkthrough talk pages. Your effort to preserve deleted content is appreciated, but it's unnecessary. All of a page's edit history is preserved by the database that powers the site. If you look at the page's history, you'll see that the contents of sidebar will always be available to anyone who browses through the history to see what modifications were made to the page and when. Also, I responded to your post in the Staff lounge concerning multi-upload. Procyon 05:11, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Right, I knew that... silly me. And yes, I saw, thanks :) -- Ceegers (talk) 05:17, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Image/File usage

It uses one less byte. I just do it whenever I see it. "File:" replaced "Image:" to help reduce excess data on Wikipedia. At the top of this page you can see: "Images that are stored on a MediaWiki server are usually rendered by using the File: namespace prefix (but the legacy Image: namespace prefix is still supported as a synonym) as the target of a MediaWiki link."--Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:00, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Featured Guide nomination for Portal

I've added Portal to StrategyWiki:Featured guides/Current requests. Please chime in and add your support. This doesn't mean the guide is 100% complete, but I think you've done a great job revamping it. If you have any additional ideas for the guide, let us know on the comments section there. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 07:13, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
