Hi Garrett. I noticed you upscaled the images on the retro titles I worked onThat's cool, however I was trying to conform to the changes that DrBob made to my Donkey Kong page.  I'm comfortable following whichever formatting is correct, but now there's a discrepancy between DK and the other pages that I startedJust want to know which one I should use from now on (and if DK needs to be fixed.) Thanks!
==Sourcing==
I'm looking to convert ''a lot'' of screenshots and you're responsible for a lot of em. Do you remember if you captured any of the screenshots below? If not, remember where they came from? I would share more, but can only generate 500 at a time!

:Hi {{user|Trig Jegman}}. Yeah, I captured a lot of those images personally, especially the single screen games like Combat, Bubble Bobble, Lode Runner, and Chack'n Pop.  Other games like Castle Excellent and Athena were done so long ago, I'm not sure I'd be able to locate them again if I tried.  I have a tendency to add markup to them in the process of making them consumable for a walkthrough.  I know this isn't the most satisfactory answer, but it's the best I have right now.  If I somehow conjure up the source for some of the other images, I'll let you knowBut I'm more likely to stumble across them accidentally than intentionally.  '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 03:01, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
::Maybe to put this another way, are there any significant examples you can think of where you ''didn't'' self capture them? [[User:Trig Jegman|Trig]] - 04:17, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

:Oh, I didn't see that change. On the SNES/Genesis guides I've been doing I've included the screens at full scale. I don't think one is more correct than the other, but to me it's silly to make a screen blurry when for only a few pixels more it's crystal clear. Of course that's what using an LCD does to you... :) [[User:Garrett|Garrett]][[User talk:Garrett|Talk]] 16:32, 27 June 2006 (PDT)

== Image categorisation ==
Hey Procyon,

I see you've been uploading a few images lately. When doing so, could you please make sure to categorise them using the correct [[:Category:Images|image categories]]? The image policy is viewable [[StrategyWiki:Images|here]], and contains all the information you'll need to categorise future uploads. --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 06:40, 25 July 2006 (CDT)
No problem! After I finish the RSE guide, I'm going to apply the new templates me and Prod made to the FRLG pages too - Hopefully, it'll decrease the file size for them. Then I'll probably check out the other Pokémon guides to see what they're like, and maybe go onto a different franchise. [[User:Pakuchi|Pakuchi -- ''Someone! Anyone! Respond!'']] 13:54, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

: Additionally, could you use more than one category where appropriate please? I just had to add <nowiki>[[Category:Characters]]</nowiki> to all the LOZ images you uploaded, because you'd only categorised them as sprites, where they are actually both sprites and characters. ;-) --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 05:02, 11 August 2006 (CDT)
==I need some guidance==
Hi Procyon! Um, honestly I am kind of embarrassed on pinging you about this considering that you are the head of StrategyWiki, but the thing is, I want to ask for guidance from you regarding about some of my guides because recently I have been thinking of something, I want to know what you think and what will be your advice to me regarding about this, this will be somewhat long so I hope you have time to read, also thank you very much for writing on my Talk page along with Prod, so here it is, I've been thinking of this for quite a while now.

You see, I have these 2 games named Astrobatics and Alien Sky that I made a Stage 2 guide from, and what bothers me is that no matter how much I think of how to improve the guides for these 2 (I can still improve them, in fact 2 more overhauls each but it is not that significant anymore) I can't really think of what more I can provide for these 2 games to make the guides for them Stage 3 eligible, the issue I am thinking about is its levels, or missions as what the games refer, it is some sort of a real time mission

== Enhanced Sprites ==
Here are some samples of it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRzhucERGqE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7X_VzuQG14

Those sprites you've been making for the DK games are pretty awesome. I've been wondering, is there any particular way you're working out the shading/highlight/fade colors, or is it just a trial-and-error thing? I'd like to have a go at making some myself, although not necessarily for StrategyWiki - they just look cool. --[[User:Aniki21|aniki21]] 08:31, 31 August 2006 (CDT)
The problem with these missions is that they really can't be described anymore with text + picture, while these games have predictable pacing as what I mentioned in its Walkthrough page, this is a roadblock that I feel like its unnecessary to break through

:Thanks for the tips! I use GIMP2.2 myself. =) Can't say I knew that half the tools you mentioned existed before I followed your example, but thanks for the tutorial! --[[User:Aniki21|aniki21]] 09:56, 31 August 2006 (CDT)
Explaining these missions "down to the bone" as in referring to where would enemies come in, come out, and all that, just feels like unnecessary information and nobody would basically read it, a good example of a game just like this is '''Sky Force Reloaded''', a game I have also nearly mastered a few months ago, I even have my runs in this game uploaded in my YouTube account and I can provide a sample, and just like these 2 games, Sky Force Reloaded also has the same kind of level, basically real time, it has predictable pacing but the levels are way too complex to be torn apart into text + picture form, if you want to recognize the levels of this game you would rather want to just do a trial and error, train your mind memory and muscle memory until you recognize where will enemies appear since enemy positions and appearances don't change, only drops do.

== Congratulations on making sysop ==
I have been thinking just now that what if the guides for Astrobatics and Alien Sky are already Stage 3 eligible at this point? I will still have to improve them but I believe once I did, they should be at least Stage 3 eligible, but I am afraid that some people may attempt to dispute its ranking and say that it may miss an information, which is also a big problem on my part because I cannot look for someone who has played these 2 games, finished it completely, and then decide to pay my guide a visit and judge it

Congratulations on becoming a sysop, Procyon. I'm sure you'll continue to contribute lots of useful stuff. :-) --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 01:05, 6 September 2006 (CDT)
Assuming that you gave me a go signal to make these guides Stage 3 eligible, I will take that into mind and once I have finally provided 2 more major overhauls I will upgrade it to Stage 3, then, if I was able to find someone who can read these guides and tell me how it is, if it came out as having a really good review saying that it is comprehensive enough, then I will upgrade it to Stage 4 but this is a process that I won't be able to do in just days unless if I am lucky enough to find one quick.

== Re message ==

:Short Answer: SS is the name of the arcade version, while SNK added a ! to the name of the Neo-Geo Pocket version (and is actually supposed to be a retelling of SS4).  The best place to confirm a lot of this information is typically gamefaqs.com.  Check out [http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/neogeo/data/565655.html the SS page] versus the [http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/neopocket/data/574735.html the SS! page].  Different games.  There's a longer answer, but it's not important, I'm mainly frustrated by the user who started that page and then proceeded to upload the wrong picture.
Ok I’ll try to check before I submit any edits[[User:Sclera1|Sclera1]] ([[User talk:Sclera1|talk]]) 02:35, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

== Question ==

== Fighting moves ==
Hi i was wondering, would you prefer when writing an article (e.g. enemies guide), if i had to make a quick change and I didn’t have the time to go through an entire thing at once, would you prefer me to initially either list them as headers that are empty underneath or list them in dots points (in case) and then expand on them when i have the chance? Thank you [[User:Sclera1|Sclera1]] ([[User talk:Sclera1|talk]]) 06:28, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

What did you eventually decide to do for this? From the message you left on MUD's talk page, it sounds like you're going to put them all in one place, but I wouldn't recommend this. I still think it would be best to have the moves for each game in that game's guide, and moves for common characters put in the first game they appeared, then included (i.e. <nowiki>{{:First game/Shared character's name}}</nowiki>) in pages for other games. --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 14:03, 9 September 2006 (CDT)
==It's out of scope==
[[User:MrNemesis/sandbox]] covers an out of scope game: [https://fantendo.fandom.com/wiki/Extreme_Cross#Initial_Roster Fandom Nintendo Page for Extreme Cross]. [[User:Trig Jegman|Trig]] - 16:53, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

It's not quite what you think.  Ultimately, I would like to retain the organization of the initial project.  If you think of numbers as the name of each game, and letters as the name of each character, then you'd have a series of pages, each related to one particular game, that would be arranged as:
==Kikai==
<div style="width: 34%; float: left;">
Couldn't see what the page contained but I found some things that *might* have been the game?
*1
*[https://farawaytimes.itch.io/kikai Kikai by Far Away Times]
**A's moves
*[https://www.indiedb.com/games/kikai This thing on IndieDB]
**B's moves
*[https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/hisui-no-kikai Hisui No Kikai on Metacritic]; came out this year
**C's moves
*[https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pasogo/295008-kikai-haouden-gendai-hen Kikai Haouden Gendai Hen, a board game]
</div><div style="width: 33%; float: left;">
*[https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/917289-kikai-shikake-no-kan Kikai Shikake No Kan, appears to be an NSFW game? couldn't find more besides gameFAQs]
*2
Maybe this helps find if this was a legitimate game or not. Worst to worst, maybe we don't have one of these games and it can be added instead. [[User:Trig Jegman|Trig]] - 02:24, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
**A's moves
:I appreciate you digging in to see if there was any real world examples of a game named Kikai.  None of these seem to relate to the content that the user added, so it's difficult to determine whether the user's content was based on a real game in development, or more of a fantasy wish-list game.  I'm not going to worry much about it though.  '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 17:45, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
**B's moves
**C's moves
</div><div style="width: 33%; float: left;">
*3
**A's moves
**B's moves
**C's moves
</div>
And then you'd have another series of pages, each related to one particular character, that would be arranged as:
<div style="width: 34%; float: left;">
*A
**moves from 1
**moves from 2
**moves from 3
</div>
<div style="width: 33%; float: left;">
*B
**moves from 1
**moves from 2
**moves from 3
</div>
<div style="width: 33%; float: left;">
*C
**moves from 1
**moves from 2
**moves from 3
</div>
Of course every indented appearance of A, B, C, 1, 2, and 3 would be linked to the non-indented occurrance page.  With respect to the rest of StrategyWiki, we maintain a home page for each individual game just as we do today, but then we provide a link to the page that contains all of the moves for that game.

So for example, the Street Fighter II page would stay.  Then instead of linking to each individual fighter, we say:
== I need help on the New Zealand Story Enemies ==
<nowiki>Please see the list of moves for Street Fighter II [[Move Lists\Capcom\Street Fighter II|here]]</nowiki>
<nowiki>For Ryu's moves, please see Ryu's page [[Move Lists\Capcom\Ryu|here]]</nowiki>
and so on.  Organizationally, this is the best way to provide an easy navigation for the user to pop back and forth between games and characters, while still providing a consistant layout between the format we currently use for individual games, and a consistant organization for the arrangement of move lists.

I know it may seem a bit unorthodox compared to what we have today, but I'm only proposing this for the sake of increasing the organization, not decreasing it. That's why the individual SF2 char. pages need to move.
Procyon, I need your help, there is a lot of enemies in the New Zealand Story, And the art program I use can only hold 700 pixels and will get the picture blurry, Can you help me please. Also can you make all the character sprites what yo did to that Pac-Man Sprites it looks more cool.

: OK, I put up some sample pages, mostly copy/pastes of what was already on wikiknowledge.  Of course the whole point is that I want it to ''look'' much better, and that's where blendmaster's hard work will come in.  So now if you check out [[Move_Lists]], [[Move_Lists/Capcom]], or [[Street Fighter II]], you'll understand everything that I meant. Thanks! [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] 16:51, 9 September 2006 (CDT)
Hey. Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you did on the Mighty Bomb Jack page. I recently discovered it while trying to make a full game map. All I came for was the images of all the rooms so I could layer them together in a GIMP project... but then I noticed that crazy shortcut from 5 to 11! Turns out it saves time in speedruns compared to warping between the Palace Rooms. It helped me recently get World Record!

==Re: Preview your changes before you save==
I was hoping you could tell me where you found that trick. Seems crazy to think someone could discover it by accident. Did you do a code disassembly or was it in some sort of Nintendo Power or old school strategy guide? [[User:SpaceColonizer|SpaceColonizer]] ([[User talk:SpaceColonizer|talk]]) 19:33, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
I'll make sure to limit the number of Saves I do in the future. However, I would like to point out that it's impossible to see the effect editing a template has on a page that uses that template in preview. That's one reason there's so many edits.  Weird things happen when you use html and css in wikis so it's hard to get it right using Preview.  That being said, I'll try to use it whenever I can.

: "I would like to point out that it's impossible to see the effect editing a template has on a page that uses that template in preview": That's why many templates have self-references included in a <nowiki><noinclude></nowiki> section. :-) (Sorry for butting in.) --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 08:59, 10 September 2006 (CDT)

:: Now that I'm trying to create a complex template for the first time, I understand exactly what he's talking about, and it's very frustrating.  You can make a change to the noinclude section all that you want, but until you commit the changes you made in your template to the database, you can't ever preview your alterations.  I might start using regular wikipedia as a sand box ^_^ [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] 13:40, 12 September 2006 (CDT)

Yes, the games have a lot of information with them along with some strategy, but that's because I always want to include the story/backstory and detailed info along with each game.  Additionally, I make sure that everything I write with each game is properly cited so that users/readers know that the information is correct.

*The source was http://wikidream.elwiki.com/Pok%C3%A9mon_Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald_Walkthrough:_Section_1 [[User:Minun|Minun]] 10:31, 1 October 2006 (CDT)

: What sort of game do you think you're trying to play? Do you think we don't look at the page history? You '''created''' that page and added the content; your content to add. The only other edit was by Garrett, who was just cleaning up. If you continue clowning around like this, you're going to be banned. Full stop. --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|Talk]]) 11:18, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
